Hi, I started my second round of prostap injections last September as getting pregnant has been a fail for me. (My blog explains more about me so I won’t bore you with it again) Since having my last injection in November I haven’t had a period, however the first time I had had a period the following month. I have been having a few issues with not being accepted for free IVF treatment as my partner has a child from a previous relationship, however after looking on the NICE guidelines it states that someone who is going through fertility should not be given prostap injections. Does anyone know how long they have waited for a period after their Prostap injections?Does anyone know if what I have read on the guidelines is correct?Xx

Prostap periods
Hi @MarieC24 I have read your journey so far and I'm sorry to learn about your struggles, especially regarding fertility, but it is clear you have a 'fighting' spirit!
I personally waited about 3 months before I started have periods after also taking Prostap injections.
I can't comment on the National Institute for Health and Care Proffesionals guidlines regarding taking Prostap when undergoing fertility, but from what you have said you are no longer on this medication. Clearly and understandably this is a serious issue for you (and your Partner), if you are still under the care of your consultant, it would be worth reaching out directly to them (via their team), if not, please don't hesitate to consult with your own GP.
I have provided the below link for our Webinar regarding fertility with Dr Daphne Chong - Subspecialist Fellow in Reproductive Medicine and Senior Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology:
Good luck, it would be great to follow your story, as it is such an important topic for so many.
I was waiting for around 3 months after prostrap and still no period (prostrap was actually part of my fertility treatment as they use it to down reg you and take over your cycle so it is defo used in fertility too) but in this particular round it was cancelled after prostrap so I didn’t get the other meds to start my cycle again so after 4 months of no bleed the clinic did a blood test and could see nothing was happening so they gave me some tablets to take for a week (noristherone) and within another week I got my periods. It’s maybe worth asking your consultant or GP to do this blood test and if needed these tablets (they are pretty common on here I’ve seen).
I don’t know about the funding rules these days and they can vary by area but that was the case when we went for funding neither of us could have already had a biological child xx.
