Advice on Prostap injection

Hi, Quick question: I'm on a mock cycle with a clinic in Spain and need to have a prostap injection on the 30th Dec by a professional. Has anyone done this before? Anyone know where you can get this done in London?

I did mine myself, I have heard they used to get you to come in for it at my old clinic so not sure if its a new thing after covid or what. It was fairly straightforward to do. Do you know a nurse or doctor that could do it for you?

Thanks for your response. I was thinking about doing it myself, but they're insisting I don't. I don't know a nurse or doctor, so I'll have to look at clinics.

The prostap injection my clinic gives is a subcutaneous one and you can do it yourself. However if your clinic insists it has to be done by a professional maybe you can book a slot in one of the big pharmacies where you take test kits for bloods test. Some pharmacies do flu vaccines so they might have trained staff to perform injections. You can phone and see what they say. Or the foreign clinic should be able to recommend something. Good luck

Hello Hope continues! We're similar in that I'm also doing a mock cycle with a clinic abroad☺️. I was adviced that it had to be done by a professional as it needed to be intramuscular. But I heard on another forum that some ladies have done it themselves as well. I was meant to have mine done today but as my GP was closed today I just asked if I could have it one day earlier and the clinic said that was fine to do. The nurse did the injection on my arm yesterday and it seems pretty straight forward. Before that I was calling pharmacies but they refused to do it, perhaps I was just unlucky. I would check with your GP if they can do it (if they are open). All the best!

Thanks for your reply. I've done an intramuscular injection before in my leg, so I might do it myself if I can't find anyone to do it. Good luck with your cycle. It won't be long before the real one. X

Thank you. I did it myself and it was grim. I've injected a lot of needles during this process, but that was definitely the worst. X

I had a nurse friend do it for me but I know other ladies at my clinic have done it themselves or got their partner to do it for them.

Alternatively could you get the nurse at your GP practice to do it for you possibly?

Hi, you can have a nurse or GP administer it if your GP is willing to do it. My GP wouldn't and like you my clinic insisted that it's done by a professional but I told them my husband administered all my injections so he did it himself.
