Please could someone please shed some light on this for me .... I have already had a scan during the first few days of my period, now the NHS said the next step is a scan between 18-25 days of my cycle... any idea what and why this is? And whether the actual IVF itself will start straight after this?

Yet another scan and no timeline
hey 👋🏼 are you in the testing stage on the nhs to see what’s stopping you conceiving or have you been on the IVF wait list and now youve reached the top and starting treatment at a clinic? We get scanned so many times for so many things at different time sun our cycle it’s hard to tell from your post what stage you are at sorry 🤗 xx
Hi, to be honest I am not even sure myself. There is no wait list where I live, I have already had a scan at the beginning of my cycle and had all the blood tests. They have now passed me over to the IVF consultant who now wants to do this day 18-25 scan. So I think this maybe at the beginning part of the treatment? I would just really like to know for my own sanity how much more of this there is until we are actually starting the actual treatment (injections) part.
Hey - a day 18-25 scan is often to check whether you have ovulated that month and everything looks good to start meds on your next cycle. So you go and have the scan, they check you have ovulated and that you don't have any cysts and your tubes look clear etc. They should give you the protocol for your IVF which the nurse will go over with you and the drugs should be delivered. Then usually you call on day one of your cycle and they book you in for your next scans and you start taking your meds.
I would give your clinic a call and ask for a rough timeline if you are unsure what there plan is. Makes sense to know what is going on! :o)
Hi Jen. Seemsdue to the timing of the scan, they are looking to see whether you have ovulated, so they can decide when to continue with treatment. They will be looking at womb lining too. Diane
