We’re your periods out of sync the months after IVF?

Hi Ladies

I had a failed transfer with DE ivf in October, got my period a day after stopping progesterone, November period bang on time - I’m regular 28 days. This one is on the missing list I’m now 8 days late. I’m trying to plan ahead for my FET and working out dates (ish) when I can plan for but it’s making it difficult. Never had this before after IVF so wondering how common it is?

TIA

So sorry about your failed cycle, I am afraid I think this is really common, my cycles always went screwy after a round. I think the worse was 2 weeks late! Hopefully yours won't be that bad! It often took a couple of months for them to regulate again. I think your clinic can give you something to bring on your period if it's gone walkabout so might be worth considering if you need to crack on soon. Heaps of luck with your next round x

Hi Daisy, I’m ok with it now and just feeling hopeful for my frozen embies. Ah ok I feel better knowing it’s not just me. I think I’ll wait it out another week then ring the clinic x

Hi Stargazer. Your menstrual cycle can take up to 3 months to return to what is normal for you, so just got to wait it out. Good luck! Diane

Hi Dianne, ah ok so hopefully things will get more regular as the months go on. Thank you 😊

Hi Stargazer, I have something similar.Regular 28 days like clockwork. Did a fresh long protocol this July/August, then in September I was advised to wait til October to recover, October we did a FET, then we tried Nov for the next FET and that was anovulatory and my cycle lasted 34 days. Now I'm in my December cycle and I'm having a surge scan today 🤞🏼

My clinic said not to worry about one anovulatory cycle, if it happens again we can try a medicated transfer instead.

My learning is not to plan too much, difficult I know! I am coaching myself to take it in steps/milestones.

I would give your clinic a call to get some peace of mind. As far as I have read, this is fairly common and yet just another unexpected twist to the plot of an IVF story!

Take care 💚

Hi BeMoreBabs,

Good to hear it’s not only me

We’ve decided to wait till March for our FET now and give my body a rest, plus fit in a week away in the sun. It’s so strange how it’s messed up my cycle this time but not with the other two I had. My first 2 periods after this cycle were fine too but this one has decided to hang about. I’m not too stressed now I know other people have the same issues and it makes sense really with all the different hormones we take in treatment.

Good luck for your FET

Xx
