hello, I had 7 embryos tested and I have been told that 2 have no result. I questioned what this meant and embryologist didn’t really give an answer, just said they can re-test them free of charge which makes me think it was an error on their side. Has anyone else had this happen and know why it would come back with no result? Thanks x

I have had this previously. They said there wasn’t enough of a certain bit they needed to work out whether it was abnormal or normal. So they couldn’t say for definite xxx
I've had this happen, again no real clear answer but just that they couldn't get a clear result. The clinic said they could retest but my Dr want that keen as it means defrosting then refreezing the embryo which can damage it.
we have one like that. As the previous answers indicated, the lab did not have enough good material to perform the tests reliably. My clinic does not even offer retesting as it would mean thawing and refreezing the embryo and they say it is too risky.

Hi CICMAC. My feelings are that I wouldn't want them defrosted again when it seems doubtful they will get a clear result. Perhaps go with the OK ones and see whether the others grow on to blastocyst stage. Good luck! Diane
Hi CICMAC, this has happened to me before. They can't say for certain exactly why it happens, but it could be for a number of reasons. The reason I was given for mine was that the DNA couldn't be amplified, which could be because the DNA was poor quality, the embryologist didn't manage to get a good enough sample or didn't manage to get the cells into the tube (which is possible given they're working on a microscopic level). If you ask your clinic to send you your PGT-A report there should be some more information on that (for example, my report said it was due to the DNA not being able to be amplified).Depending on the lab about 5% of embryos tested will get a 'no result', so I'm surprised two of yours came back with that result.
For what it's worth, we opted to retest our 'no result' embryo. It survived the thaw and second biopsy really well and to my shock it came back euploid. We transferred it, but it sadly didn't take.
Hope that helps!
X
thanks for all the responses. My clinic have offered to re-test free of charge but I am concerned about the risk of thawing and then freezing again. I will ask for a copy of the report to see if any further info as this wasn’t provided. We have two that tested normal so going to focus on those first 🤞 x
