Jennifer Aniston and other IVF celebs

Hi there! I am curious as to how you feel about the seeming shift in openness regarding discussing infertility? You may have seen the recent interview with Jennifer Aniston who is now coming forward regarding her fertility struggles from years ago. This article discusses some public figures who are now sharing their struggles:

There are many others - Michelle Obama, the Kardashians, Courtney Cox, Paris Hilton, Jimmy Fallon and more. I was discussing this recently with a good friend (who has gone through IVF). I think it is a super positive trend, as women have for ages kept pregnancy loss and infertility as a secret. My friend felt that there is a potential for unrealistic expectations (since celebs have unlimited resources etc). Would love to hear your thoughts!

I think sometimes it feels as thought when they have discussed it, they gloss over how challenging.... soul destroying that it can actually be, how it's riddled with aniexty and full of grief...however maybe that's because, as you say, they have unlimited resources so they don't have some of the same worries about funding and trying again and again 🤷🏻‍♀️ I know what if that wasn't a worry for us, the aniexty would have been a lot less. I'm not saying that they dont find it hard, just maybe they have less worry about some aspects of the process. we're all after the same goal after all xx

I found it super helpful when we found out we needed treatment to google other people who have gone through the same thing. I think HollyT7 is right that they do gloss over how soul destroying it is and will defo have less financial worries... but it was nice to feel less alone when we're not ready to tell family yet. xx
