Anyone had over 10 days of high fertility flashing smilies on a CB digital advance before? I'm on day 10 now which is unusual for me, the line is getting darker (both on CB and on the cheapy sticks) but no peak yet....
The CB website says I probs won't ovulate this month, which would suck.
I had a miscarriage (surgery) in Feb, Septum removal in April and coils in for 4 weeks (then out in May) and my cycles have been odd anyways since all of that so i'm sure it's just a bit all over the place. Just wondered if anyone had got 10+ days and still got their peak?
Normally I do internal temping (ovusense) but haven't used it since Dec due to the miscarriage, surgery and ALL the bleeding etc so can't even tell that way what is going on (which is normally way more accurate than anything else).

I often had over 10 days, I think 18 was my record before I ran out of sticks. I stopped using those tests in the end, it was just a very expensive way of showing I wasn’t ovulating. Switched to the cheap premom tests and never found a peak there either but saved a lot of money!
yeah I'm only using them right now as I had a load left over, so expensive though!! So you were just not ovulating rather than just had a high number of 'high fertility' days?
My cycles were always wildly irregular, so I don’t think I was ever the ideal candidate for ovulation tests. They’d range from 21- 80+ days, and different tests and scans showed annovulation was likely the case. I was so desperate to prove otherwise prior to ivf I got a bit hooked on the tests!
I actually don’t believe it or not! If anything quite the opposite! Very low AMH and AFC! No reason was ever found for it, despite every test under the sun. This went on for years and I thought I was doomed but against all odds I actually got pregnant naturally whilst waiting to start a donor egg cycle. Not something I ever ever thought would happen but one lucky egg made it despite everything, including a blocked tube!
I've never had 10 days of high fertility on CB, but if you've never had issues ovulating before this year, I wonder whether this is just showing that your body is out of balance and needs some time to recover after the recent miscarriage and potentially the coil as well. Also, it's not excluded that this cycle simply is longer or shorter than usual, due to your body being under so much stress in the past few months.
I did a stim cycle in Aug 2023 and had a chemical at the beginning of Sept, and it honestly took me about 4 cycles to recalibrate. The first cycle after my chemical was longer than normal, the next one a day shorter, the one after that another day shorter, but the one in December suddenly dropped to 26 days. On that one I wasn't able to get a positive ovulation test because I was probably testing too late, and I remember Clearblue being a bit annoying too, probably because I started testing too late in the cycle (since I didn't know it was gonna be so much shorter) and it didn't get a good baseline read to compare next readings with? I eventually stopped using it that month as it was frustrating. Things didn't go back to normal until January when it stabilised at 28 and since then, I've been fine. I even did a natural FET on that January cycle. But during those 4 months after the chemical, I took my mind off everything IVF, focused on my diet, worked out, travelled, hung out with friends, did acupuncture, and I'm sure it all helped.
I'd recommend the regular urine strip test as well for now, as I find Clearblue very frustrating to use when your cycles are irregular. Good luck! xx
Yeah I think you're right. The miscarriage feels like so long ago now but my cycle hasn't come back before my septum removal (5 weeks later) so it was already messed up then that proceedure plus the coil deffo messed with things. I'm a bit worried as we have been trying this cycle so hoping my body being messed up wouldn't cause anything bad like a miscarriage (though chances are it will just stop me getting pregnant at all this time round).
That's crazy it took that long to get back to normal - I've only found it's taken me 1-2 months in past chemicals/miscarriages but this one is just so different.
Yeah using the strips alongside CB as I don't trust either tbh. I'll be going back to my internal temping after my next period which i'm excited by as I find that to be SO much more accurate. Thanks for replying xx
Yeah, I think it took me longer than it should have because our IVF got approved surprisingly quickly and went ahead in the middle of a long house renovation process full of nasty surprises, so I was already quite stressed and run down before the IVF even started. Then during the 2WW I had to take an antibiotic too - it was all a mess! I needed to take that time to recover for multiple reasons. Now I’m about to start my second cycle next week and I’m hoping to get better results because we’re in a much better place physically and emotionally than we were last year. But who knows if it will make the difference.
Either way, l think it’s time to give yourself and your body a break. You’ve been through so much, that you deserve it and need it. Take care xx
Ahh okay, gosh that sounds like a lot! I hope the 2nd cycle goes well now you are in a more relaxed place!!
Yeah it probably is, it’s just hard to stop when time is ticking on. I’ve so far not been able to do anything since Jan so even though I’ve been going through things it feels like I’ve already waited sooo long xx
I used to get the flashing faces for over 10 days all the time so I gave up on them in the end. I think the pack used to say disregard them for that month if it flashes for 10+ days xx
I had this last month too! I was due to go in for EMMA and ALICE tests so they asked me to do ovulation tests in the lead up. I got high for days (didn't count), then my period started a week early.
I went in for a scan because they wanted to make sure I ovulated before doing the tests and they could see from the scan that I had ovulated.
I've also had a few miscarriages over the last year or so, so just put it down to my cycle being a bit messed up. Perhaps it's the same for you if it's always been OK in the past
How weird!! Did they say it was a problem that you didn’t detect ovulation even though they confirmed it? Like it wouldn’t have been a hormonal thing?
How did you find the Emma and Alice btw? Did it show up and potential reasons for your miscarriages? I think this is the next thing I need to look at as everything else is fine
They didn't really say anything to be honest. I found it so strange that my period came early too. My other cycles were all fine after the miscarriages. This last round failed. I had a normal period, then this the following month. Maybe I ovulated early 🤷♀️ It's probably just because our hormones are a bit all over the place. Hopefully it'll all go back to normal next month.
I had the tests on 14th May and there's a 3 week wait for the results, so I don't know yet. The actual test was fine. Nothing to worry about. I'm kind of hoping they find something that can be easily remedied with antibiotics/steroids or something as all my hopes are resting on this. I only have one frozen embryo left😏
I'm also on the waiting list for a Hysteroscopy. They recommended that as well, so maybe something you should ask about too.
Ahhh I hope the results go well in a couple of weeks and you get an ‘answer’ that you can treat 🤞🏻
Yeah I’ve had the hysteroscopy in April and they found a small septum which they corrected (this is why I had non hormonal coils in which also hasn’t helped the weird cycle!). Hopefully you can get yours soon!!
Where are you based? I’d recommend getting referred to Tommy’s if you can, they’ve done extra blood clotting tests on me and also found and corrected my septum. They are a research organisation too at the heart of everything so you can also take part in any active and relevant trials they have
Thank you! I did ask for a referral to Tommy's, but haven't heard anything yet. I've had some blood clotting tests done and they came back normal. I was a bit confused about the septum because I thought that was your nose! 🤣
Just Googled and there's a uterine septum too! Who knew! 😂
I will ask about that too, thank you!
Yeah, maybe the coil has messed up your cycle a bit. Maybe you ovulated early, like it appears I did! My period came a week early, so yours might too if you ovulated early?
Yeah it takes a few months to get an appointment, annoying but worth it! Professor Regan is amazing.
Haha yeah, I’d never heard of it either before!! It can effect your ability to conceive and obvs miscarriage though I’m wondering if getting my removed will do much if it was so small. We’ll see I guess. I showed her an old scan pic from my clinic and she thought it was likely I had it (and the sonographer in my last pregnancy in Jan said she could see a slight heart shape in my uterus aka the septum) so that’s why I went in to get it done. Deffo worth you asking them about it when you get your app, after the initial blood tests first.
Yeah the coil deffo affected me (despite not being hormonal!!). I bled a lot of the 4 weeks I had it in but also had a short cycle. I can’t really count those times as cycle times though as it was all confused and messed up!)
yeah maybe my period will come a week today like my app predicts. We’ll see!
I’m sorry you’re going through this, it’s so frustrating!
After I miscarried, I had a cycle where I didn’t ovulate, and then the following cycle I did ovulate, but about nine days late.
I was using the cheapie OPKs so not sure if the reading i was getting those nine days was high or peak, but there certainly were a lot before I eventually ovulated! Personally, I gave up and kicked myself when I realised I had ovulated and missed the window. My advice would be to keep testing and trying every few days (if natural is an option for you) x
Tim’s strange how our bodies work (so sorry about your miscarriage). On the cycles that you didn’t ovulate, did your period come at the time you expected it? I’m just worried that if I don’t get a peak or ovulate I won’t know when my period is coming. Never knowingly been in this situation before!
Yeah we’re doing the deed every other day in the hope that I do ovulate but it might not appear on tests. I only have one CB stick left and not wasting the money so will just carry on with cheapy strips. How frustrating!x
Ugh yes, I totally get how frustrating it is when you just want your body to get back to normal so you can crack on!
Yes, my period came after the usual length of time after I ovulated - I felt really stupid as I gave up testing and then after feeling sore boobs one night in the shower tested and realised I’d just missed the peak day and must have ovulated then! I was irrationally angry at myself for the rest of December.
Sounds like you’re doing the right thing. I think as women we put ourselves under so much pressure to understand our bodies and do everything right and there’s so much that annoyingly is out of our control! Best of luck for getting a clear sign of ovulation soon x
hey, mine was never 100% the same every month with the CB test. Sometimes I’d have one high day then straight to peak, then sometimes 6 high then peak. I also had one month where I didn’t get a reading of either at all, and another where I was high for a while and then no peak and back to the usual circle.
It sucks not to ovulate one month (thinking you’ve lost a chance), and I remember being sooo stressed about it, but when I spoke to the clinic about it when we were undergoing tests they said that it can be pretty normal 🙂.
I know people say not to use these tests (and I had that a lot), but I still think they are great, especially at a time where you feel you’re completely out of control xx
