Hi kit! It's really scary changing protocol isn't it, I remember worrying about the lower dose and that I might not get any eggs! So for my first cycle (NHS) I was on 300 bemfola. Second cycle, I was on 225 gonalf, as my consultant thought 300 was too high given my amh.
He closely monitored my bloods throughout the second round and actually reduced me further to 150 gonalf as my oestrogen was through the roof (so he was right that 300 was too high, my bloods were never monitored in the first round so I think I was maybe over stimulated without knowing).
In the first round I got 13 eggs, 12 mature and 2 fertilitised. Second round i got 10 eggs, 9 mature, 7 fertilised and 3 blasts. So a much better result (I used icsi as well).
Hope this helps. My feeling at the time was if the first cycle didn't work, something had to change. I didn't need 13 eggs, I needed good quality eggs. Lots of love for the next few weeks xx
hey, this has made me feel so much better, you’re right it’s about quality!
I had OHSS last time round & so we’ve agreed to freeze all and use Lupron as the trigger & not HCG, so reduce the chance of OHSS. I also have a high AMH, it’s 6.7. This cycle I have 20+ follicles on each ovary, last time it was 10+. I’ve changed my diet completely and taking lots of supplements, I really think this is why.
Hi Kit. Probably trying to avoid over stimulation which could result in the cycle being cancelled. I'm sure your specialist is watching you closely. Good luck! Diane
