Not many follicles, feeling down

Went for my first scan on day 6 of stims (however have only taken 5 as I inject in the evening). I have very low AMH, but only have 6 follicles present, and on top of that 6 under 6mm which I was told most likely won’t grow now.

Feeling really disheartened as I had 9 last time. I’m on a high dose and I find out today if they up it again moving forward and have paid for Endo scratch. My lining also isn’t as thick as it was previous round but they said my lining was fine anyway.

Anyone else had success with ridiculously low numbers? I had a feeling it wouldnt be a good scan but it’s worse than I originally thought, always feeling like I can’t win with fertility.

Hope your all ok x

Early days yet - your treatment regime is taking into account your blood results etc and as you say they may increase your medication - then closely monitor your response

I'm sorry it was a disappointing scan 😫 I know how hard it is, even when you try to lower expectations! But don't give up yet, you're really early in the stims still and I've seen these situations change dramatically before final scan 🤞 🤞xx

Nothing about six follicles is a ‘ridiculously low number’. A lot of people, including myself, would be very happy with that. If you’re only on day 5 there is still plenty of time for it to change.

Sorry I didn’t mean to offend. I just felt that in comparison to last round and doing extra bits and bobs this round to help get more stimulated and then even after all that to get less follicles is just disheartening from my experience.

And yes your right I need to think more positively and things may change as days go on all being well!

Hi Mlove. Just to reiterate what others have said. It's early days with it being five lots of stims so far, plenty of time for things to change and for some of the smaller ones to join in. Even if it doesn't change it sounds like the six others have been recruited and this provides six chances 👍When is next scan? I know its hard, believe me, but please do not despair

Good luck, let us know how you get on

I agree with everyone else. On my day 6 scan I have only had 3 follicles before and the nurse talked about cancelling my cycle - next scan all hell broke loose and I had 9! There is still time Good luck! x

Hi Daisy,

So glad you had 9 in the end, that’s amazing news! Stories like this keep me more positive so thank you for sharing :) x

i had a grand total of one follicle at that stage on my last round - and it was very large - the doctors were very pessimistic but something similar had happened on an earlier round so I kept going for a total of 17 days on very high doses and got five eggs which all fertilised and made it to blast - the result of that is snoozing next to me right now :). Also on the earlier round I had more follicles and got 9 eggs but less than half fertilised so sometimes it's quality over quantity. Every situation is different but the numbers alone sound good to me at the stage you're at and hopefully they'll grow and you may even get a few more race through.

How did you get on in the end? I'm in exactly the same situation and can't help but worrying. Did you get 6 eggs and any blasts?

Hey,

I ended getting 8 eggs actually, however none of them fertilised. Some were not mature or didn’t make it to right stage etc and one fertilised but in an odd way. Very disappointing as 8 was a good number for me. We’re now undertaking extra testing before we start out next round. Wishing you all the best, please try not to overthink as thats exactly what i did but managed to get more than my first round♥️

Thanks for the reply. I'm so sorry it didn't work out for you last round. My last round was similar and we only had one embryo put back that was the stage before a blastocyst. I'm just worried incase the same thing happens again. I know that it's out of my control. Good luck with your tests and next round.
