time from applying for funding and starting IVF

I am just wondering for those of you who are having/have had IVF through the NHS, how long have you waiting from filling out paperwork/applying for funding until starting your first round of IVF?

hi.

I waited around 6 months for funding and the same day I got funding I also got pregnant. Sadly lots that one and then after instigating ivf took about 4 months from being referred to having the treatment.

Every borough is different though so sure it varies depending where you live and the backlog the clinic has.

Hope that helps ❤️

thank you for your reply. We have an appointment in November to do the referral so fingers crossed things start to move now x

Hi SunshineElephant. It can be several months, but at least you are in the system now, so I wish you huge luck. Keep in touch with your clinic and let them know that you are willing to accept a cancelation. Just might hurry things up a little. Diane

I didn't even know we applied tbh, nurse completed referral forms for ivf at our last iui transfer and about a week later we had a call, started treatment around 2 months later so a few weeks after our last iui failed xx

congratulations! Xx

Hello, ours took from meeting a clinician in Jan to actually having a first meeting in May, so a few months. But 3 of those months were because I had to be vaccinated for MMR (again!), which I wish I knew before!! Plus my blood test results were misplaced (?) never got to the bottom of that! So that took out a few weeks, which has a knock on effect. But first round started in July and I’ve just completed my first transfer! Don’t be afraid to chase- good luck! X

I chased and we have an appointment now to do the referral in November. Hopefully it won’t be too long! Hope the transfer had gone well x

The NHS process and tests themselves were very lengthy (a year all together and had to redo multiple times as they lost some…), but after the referral only couple weeks wait. That depends on the clinic though.
