when is the next natural period after Egg Retrieval?

Hi all, I had my egg retrieval and had to freeze my embryos because I was at high risk of OHSS.

I had my withdrawal bleed 8 days after the egg retrieval and now waiting for a natural period to start so I can begin my Frozen Egg Transfer.

I normally have 32 day cycle but I have gone over now.

I was wondering how long it took some people to start their period after egg retrieval.

I'm getting nervous because I can't start FET until I get a natural period and my clinic is closing soon till January. If I don't get one before the end of this month (October) I will have to wait for the clinic to reopen in the new year.

i would appreciate if anyone could tell me what their experience was?

hi, I had EC on 30th August withdrawal bleed 12th September for a week then 4 weeks after that stopped I started my next cycle.

Fingers crossed that it starts soon for you x

Thank you for your reply, it was very helpful.

It makes sense, I read somewhere that someone waited about 5 weeks for the natural period to start but I didn't know if it was from before the EC or the withdrawal bleed. So I'm thinking the body takes the withdrawal bleed as a normal period and goes from there.

Well I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I could feel that it was coming but nothing so drank some ginger tea and put a hot water bottle on my tummy to encourage it to come. Don’t know if that helped or not! 🤷🏻‍♀️ X

Hi Fatty. It can take up to 3 months for a cycle to commence that is normal to you. Most miss one then have a normal cycle. Good luck! Diane
