I haven quite active in this group past few weeks, as you all know, I had my ivf in Cyprus and transfer on 26th September but had to return to UK after a week due to work commitments. Just want to know when to book the first scan after having positive pregnancy test. I am a bit scared 😱, i have noticed that couple of warriors had miscarriages after early scan. My hubby advised me to book a scan in 1st week of November. What do we really check on the first scan… please help

Congrats on your BFP! I am sorry your clinic hasn’t given you proper direction. Typically the first ‘viability’ scan is between 6 and 8 weeks pregnant. The preference is around 7 weeks as by that time you should see a heartbeat. Sometimes if you go too early and it’s a late implanter it may be inconclusive and then it just adds to worry. They will check the length and that there is a heartbeat and then check your ovaries are quiet and your lining looks ok. Good luck x
First of all congratulations on your positive test! Hope everything from now on goes nice, smooth and uneventful for you!
I had my transfer the 26th September too and got a positive. I'm one of those who have miscarried for the second time after an early scan. Once in May and once a day ago, both times straight after an early internal scan. Even though everyone says it's safe and all that I'm reluctant to believe that anymore. I know everyone is different, maybe it was just a bad luck but still it happened twice twice in a row.
Listen to hubby and wait until beginning of November that's my advice too ❤️❤️❤️ Love and positive vibes your way ❤️
I feel the same. My transfer was on sep 21st. I have a scan next Thursday 20th just to check that everything is as it should be at this stage. The next scan is at 12 weeks. Where we should see much more I supposed it saves us using heaps of medication if we don’t need to and just puts our minds at ease a wee bit. But the internal scan is a bit nerve wracking xxx
I had a transfer on the 26th too and booked for the 3rd Nov about 8 weeks I think. I know it's going to be a long old wait and I'm struggling already but figured then we can allow ourselves to be a little optimistic getting to that stage. It's a tough decision and realistically the first 12 weeks and then until they are in your arms there's going to be a fair bit of worry.
Congrats for getting this far and everything crossed for both of us.
congratulations on your BFP. I had my transfer on the 27th September and my clinic advised me to book on the 1st November.
I too am very anxious as a few months ago we had a scan at 7 weeks then lost our little one at 9 weeks. Tbh I think you will always worry until they are in your arms.
I have a 2 year old from IVF and I got excited at every milestone then I just went into worrying till I got to the next one. Then at the end was worried if there was no movement regularly. This journey is just like a rollercoaster lots of highs and lows.
