AMH at 44

Hi All, my AMH was measured as 1.35 ng/ml (9.64 pmol/L) in a blood test that my fertility clinic did recently. My history: I've conceived naturally 4 times, first when I was 38 that ended in a first trimester silent miscarriage, at 39 that resulted in our amazing daughter been born when I was 40. Then I experienced a silent miscarriage at 41 and another at 42. I was advised to not go to for fertility treatment due to age. Eventually I bit the bullet and went this year (I know, at least a few years too late). It turns out I may have a thyroid issue as I have high TPO antibodies and am getting that checked next week (it hadn't been measured during my pregnancies which I now see as negligance by my then doctor - at the time I just assumed she was thorough). My blood test at the fertility clinic showed all other values in the normal range - I also have regular cycles and seem to ovulate every month as I test with Clearblue digital). I got an NK cell test done today but the fertility clinic are not willing to offer me IVF due to age. I guess my question is what are other people's experiences at a similar age? Is my AMH ok for my age? This is probably immaterial as even if I have eggs left if they are all bad quality that's not going to get me anywhere. Thanks for reading this far - I'd love to hear other people's experiences.

So sorry for all your losses. I started IVF at 37 and am still here at 45. There are some clinics in London that will let you do IVF up to 47 but they tend to be the pricier ones.. some of the big ones in London let you do until 45.

I think your last comment is probably the most relevant one. My AMH was 16 at 37 and was 9.8 at 43 - which was seen as high for my age and I was really confident because of this that I would be lucky and eventually have a baby. I also ovulated regularly, had regular cycles etc. Unfortunately the reality was that AMH wasn't really relevant and my older eggs prevented me from having a successful pregnancy. I had a number of missed miscarriages and chemicals both IVF and natural over the years and they used that as some of the evidence in the end that it was likely an egg quality issue. I know everyone is different but unfortunately you can't test egg quality. We ended up going the donor egg route which isn't for everyone but does mean they will continue to transfer past the age of 45 (I did my most recent transfer at 45). Wishing you luck xx

Hi Daisy, thank you for the response, much appreciated. I've seen your name so often on this forum as you reply to so many people - you're just great to be so involved. First of all massive congrats on your own pregnancy. I hope all continues to go well, have my fingers crossed for you. I agree with everything you've said, having a decent supply of eggs mid 40's is not a lot of use if the quality is useless. Donor egg seems to be the smart option but neither I nor my husband could get our heads around that, so it's not an option unfortunately.
