If try to get time off so you can prepare yourself - take time getting ready so not rushing etc-also, if possible, have your OH with you. Take a look at Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority [UK Fertility Regulator] hfea.gov.uk and enter Preparing for IVF to give you an idea of what to expect on your 1st appointment Website also contains lots of info on fertility issues & treatments etc that you might find helpful

Good luck & will be thinking of you

As other post says it is up to you - if it makes you feel less stressful it might be a good idea

Maybe check with your HR Dept

Good luck

Hi there! I would take some time off both before and after. Although each person differs, you may need a few days after to recover. The procedure itself is not bad and is quick. Here is a great article which discusses the retrieval in detail and what to expect: mamasconnected.com/post/egg...

Best of luck to you x

Hi dear, it really depends on how comfortable you are with your place of work. It may be helpful to see what your clinic requires in terms of evaluations prior to actual retrieval. It is common to have five or six appointments in the couple of weeks leading to retrieval. Of course, you will likely need to take the actual day of the procedure off and perhaps a couple of days after. For the appointments, most employers should be able to work around these times, but it depends on your particular employer. Best of luck to you!

My experience….take some time off, I had my first consultation during my lunch break which was silly, my head was buzzing with questions after the appointment and ended up having to request another appointment which wasted everyone’s time.

Questions you may want to ask…fresh or frozen embryo transfers?, single embryo transfer or a multiple embryos transfer, cost, process of ordering and getting the medication?. Will I have the same Dr throughout the process, how the clinic keep in contact with you ie email, phone or a patient portal?

Best wishes to you on your journey
