I have severe endometriosis and after my recent surgery ive been given the devastating news that the likelyhood of me conceiving naturally is less than 1%.
We had our free NHS IVF cycle in March which unfortunately ended with a miscarriage.
At my consultation on Tuesday my Dr said that the IVF funding system is shocking with the post code lottery ect and states that we should look at changing our GP to get further funding.
Can i ask has anyone done this? My Dr said that some of her patients have done it an they dont see it as a problem, its not illegal ect.
Did anyone have any issues with changing GPs for IVF funding if they did? Was the process easy? Did they get any backlash from it?
Any advice would be most welcome
Thank you x

Hi Teebo. So sorry to hear of your news, and I hope you have got lots of support just now. If you email Carla Homerstone our England Co-ordinator, she may have more information on this for you. Good luck! Diane
Also, another tip in case you havent done this already, if you have private health insurance through work, check the small print. I did and found it covered Assisted Fertility sufficient to do around a couple of IVF cycles privately!
hi Koala..that’s huge news..can you share the insurance Co? DM if preferred. I’ve just done my NHS free cycle, we qualified for one round-very grateful to have even one of course.
hi Teebo, you can check what the CCGs in your area offer - they differ per group - some have a cut off age and some offer different numbers of rounds. (You can just google and you will find an overview with document mapping them out). Normally to register with GP you need to be in their catchment area and show proof of address etc but other than that there isn’t more to it-if they give referral to fertility clinic on NHS and that clinic will then apply for CCG funding for you once you’re within the qualifying criteria. And that should be it. Good luck 🤞🏻
