Hycosy question

Hello everyone. I hope today is treating you well!

History: 2 BFN ivfs, 6 years infertility, 1 natural chemical after failed ivfs

I am in the lead up to my next fet and I asked my Dr about having a hycosy or scratch before transfer incase they might help with implantation. He's agreed to hycosy.

Now I'm wondering if there's any point in it?

I've never had any investigations like that done, just wand scans but I have questioned my Dr about it he's generally been v happy with my lining, calls it textbook, and doesn't suspect polyps, endo or anything else.

I did have a natural chemical pregnancy recently so does that not suggest my tubes aren't blocked? I also have regular ovulation and periods.

Does hycosy help with implantation in any way?

The thoughts behind hycosty- it can improve fertility, including providing a clear view of the tubes; some women it can dislodge mucous in the fallopian tubes. This can make it easier for the eggs to journey along the tube and hopefully implant. The scratch is thought to start up a reaction that encourages implantation

I had a hycosy and everything turned out to be normal. To be fair my consultant did not suggest it, someone I went to for a second opinion did. She even acknowledged that I must have at least had one working tube because I had been pregnant previously and knew that it wasnt an ectopic as I had an MMC followed by D&C. I think if your tubes are blocked it helps unblock them and I even know someone who had unexplained fertility who got pregnant soon after having one even though her tubes did not appear to be blocked when they did it, hence I thought it was worth a try. In the end, it was just another expensive test I threw money at though, although at least I now know that wasnt one of my problems!

Hi Joey, sorry I know this post is a couple of months old. I am considering a bunch of additional tests and the hycosy is one of them. Like you, I am wondering if there's any point to it in terms of potential intrerference with implantation. I've never had one before. What did you decide to do in the end? X

Morning lovely! Well because id had the natural pregnancy (even tho was chemical) Dr said at least one of my tubes was open. So I decided to go for a SIS instead, that's just the saline scan of the uterus, and he also did the a scratch whilst he was there.

Both very easy and straightforward, just a tiny bit of cramping. I think there was only £50-100 difference in getting the foam in the tubes too so I do wonder why I didn't just get it all done in one go but as I say, the chemical proved one tube was OK at least xx

Good luck with whatever you decide but I'm glad I did it. All came back clear. I also did microbiome testing of my uterus recently and that was clear. Nice to have answers but frustrating there's no issues at the same time lol
