Hycosy results blocked tube?

Hi everyone, firstly sorry to all those like me that have had their cycles cancelled it really sucks, sending you all a virtual hug.

As I now have time on my hands due to said cancelled cycle I have been thinking about the hycosy I had before starting my IVF treatment which is a number of years ago now.

When the consultant put the dye through he did it a couple of times and it only flushed through one side, he said it didn’t necessarily mean that the other side was blocked it could be that it just had a preferred path/side, just wondered whether anyone else had this happen or told something similar?

It is extremely unlikely I can fall pregnant naturally as boyfriend has low sperm count and mobility, I am also older and guess if one of my tubes is blocked this reduces the chances further.

Be interested to hear others stories who are similar.

Thanks xx

I had a HyCoSy and liquid didn’t go through one of my tubes, we went for IVF and had my son, then 4 months later I fell pregnant and ovulated from the ‘blocked side’ so it can happen.... mine either unblocked or was never blocked in the first place 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes! Never thought in a million years I’d be in this position with a 9 month old and 24 weeks pregnant after years of struggling

Hi Coral, one of mine looked blocked, but they weren’t sure as the dye went through a bit. So they left it. When I had my egg collection they saw that it was swollen rather than blocked and leaking fluid in to my uterus. So they did separate surgery to clip it closed. When they did that they saw that the other tube was also damaged (didn’t show on the X-ray) so clipped it also.... this is supposed to vastly increase the chances of ivf working but I haven’t had the chance to test yet as FET cancelled due to this virus... good luck whatever you decide xx

Thanks for the reply, sorry to hear about the blocked tube and the surgery but good that this will help increase your chances when you finally get the opportunity to do a cycle when all this is over. Wish you all the best as well,I share your frustration I was supposed to start my FET in a weeks time and they cancelled. I have had 3 egg collections so do you think they would have picked up any problems with my tubes when they did this? Xx

I’m sure this would have been spotted by now so you’re probably fine hun. Sorry about your cycle... it’s all so crappy at the moment xxx

Both my tubes were blocked. Had an op to unblock them but still didnt help. There are things that can be done to improve sperm motility such as: improved diet, reduce alcohol, take supplements (my OH took Imperyl - available online). By the time we did IVF his motility had improved.

Good luck on ur journey 🍀

Hey Kelessi thanks for your reply, sorry to hear the op didn’t help guess with IVF we never know why it doesn’t work I am convinced it’s down to luck as well. All the best for your future journey. Funnily enough my boyfriend also took Imperyl and our next cycle went better although guess won’t know if down to this. He has never had another test to check improvement did the hospital advice this or did you suggest ? He also did the diet, reduced alcohol thing as well although now we are going down the frozen cycle route that has lapsed a little!!! xx
