Need suggestion - Advanced age and IVF

Hi ladies,

I am 41 , having no health issues and good AMH 3.8. I got 2 embryos out of 11 mature eggs with 7 fertilized , AB and BB and transferred one only but IVF failed with dropping HCG level at week 5 in 48 hrs interval ( 66-69-45).

There is no pain, cramps or bleeding so far. Have been asked to visit clinic on Monday and stop all meds. How long should I wait for pms?

Another big question, is it worth trying again and again at my age? How long/times should I try?

is there any hope for to conceive using my egg ?

Thanks,

Namrata

I have the same question to ask too. After failed my first cycle, I really feel upset and realise how difficult for this route. I guess I need more cycles to conceive using my own eggs. I googled it, it suggests 6 cycles but most people give up after 3-4 cycles. It is hard to say when to stop. Also need to consider the finance. For me, I think if second cycle not success, nothing to transfer, then I may change clinic and sign up another 3 cycles package. DE route is my last option to consider, I prepare for the worse.

At least you have your first child, I have no child, it is going to be very tough for me...

There is hope. I got pregnant at 42. Just know that it takes on average 12 eggs to find a good one. May need to do multiple cycles, bank embryos if possible and then test them if you get a bunch or transfer them as is. Good luck!

There is hope even if the odds are not on our side. I had a failed cycle too at 42. I was devastated, I changed clinics and my new one suggested banking embryos for 3 cycles and then doing a transfer at the end of the third cycles. I transferred 2 embryos and one stuck! I got my BFP 3 weeks before my 44th birthday.

I will advise be hopeful but be prepared for the worst. A plan b can help get over the worst of the journey. During my 3 cycles, I had a disastrous second round. No blasts to freeze! But my third round resulted in my now 7 month old daughter.

All the best with your journey and praying you get your miracle 🙏🏾

Hi JoyfulStar ,

what is gap between two ivf cycles recommended by your clinic?

So sorry missed this. I had a gap of a month or so between each cycle. So after egg collection, I had a withdrawal bleed then started stims on day 2 of my next cycle.

Thanks for responding, somehow my doctor says its not good for me, could lead to ovarian cancer. so she is not doing it. i might have to hunt another clinic
