Doctor Review before IVF acceptance

Hi, I'm new here. Just wondering if anyone has had to go see the Specialist for a review appnt? I rang this morning to accept IVF treatment as I got my letter last week. But I'm now being told I can't accept until I see specialist on Monday. I've an underactive thyroid and bloods were done for thyroid levels last week. I rang to get results from my own GP and there was nothing on system. I'm kinda worried now that I'm being called in to be told I can't go ahead with IVF. My mind is playing overtime of course!

Have any of you been contacted to see fertility specialist before the normal appointments? Hope this makes sense.

Xx

I am not sure what you mean....we had preliminary tests done at the fertility clinic before deciding to go for IVF, hsg, hycosy and bloods redone etc.

Have you had your prelimiary tests at ferility done?

Sorry if I am not much help....

Thank-you for your reply. We haven't had any preliminary tests done yet as thought these were only done when you accept the treatment . This appnt has been requested by the fertility specialist before the full IVF process. I've previously had endometriosis and all was cleared. It could be a follow up on this.

Think I'm just worrying for nothing. But always good to know if anyone else has had same experience. Sorry if I'm not making sense but it's also got me confused too

No worries at all.

The first appointment we were put on the waiting list for IVF even though we hadn't said we wanted it! It is 8 month wait at our NHS clinic.

We then had a few months of going to appointments and the final conclusion was IVF after all the tests and appointments.

Hopefully you have a shorter wait than us.

Hope this helps somewhat. The waiting was the biggest challenge for me.

Seems to be a different process in each area. After being referred by the gp, I saw the fertility specialist at my local hospital before being referred for ivf. They did bloods, hycosy etc and made the decision to refer for ivf, at which point I transferred to the fertility clinic for treatment x
