Hi, I had a preterm premature rupture of the membrane (PPROM) at 16 weeks. No pain, no blood, no labour, so had an induction. All tests were done on baby and me and no cause was found. I’ve read a weak cervix is one possibility, and something that is not routinely checked and is difficult to diagnose after PPROM. A couple of weeks prior my belly felt heavy which I thought was odd so early and with only a small belly, and this sensation felt especially noticeable upon sitting down, almost a pressure type of feeling, and then it would ease a bit as I relaxed into the seat. This was my first pregnancy so I am unsure if this feeling was normal or a sign of a weak cervix. I would be interested to know if others have experienced this sensation?

Hi On_a_mission. So sorry to hear of your precious loss and hope you have plenty of support. It is always a possibility that can cause late miscarriage, and it can be checked out giving the symptoms you were having. If a problem with an incompetent cervix is found, you can have a cervical suture put around the next of the womb, which is removed when you are in labour or due. Good luck, but I would definitely check it out. Diane
Hey, my story/experience is slightly different but after 9 months of waiting for results, they found that my placenta was bleeding which caused the early birth at 22 weeks. Did they give you any feedback on the health of the placenta? My histology took a long time to come back so could be something they're investigating?
