Failed mock transfer - tight cervix

Has anyone had a failed mock transfer due to closed/tight cervix?

I had mine this morning as has 2 ops on cervix in the past but they could not get through. They are referring me to hospital to have it dilated and camera to check all ok but wondering if anyone on here has gone through this?

They said doesn't affect fertility but strangely the one and only time we fell pregnant (mmc 9 weeks) I had a hsg (which again failed) literally 4 weeks before. Seems a crazy coincidence.

I had a mock transfer as well due to surgery on cervix but mine was okay. They did say if the usual catheter they use didn’t pass, they have a different style to test. The second option catheter is less flexible/sturdier so can pass a tighter cervix. Did they try two styles of catheters with you? Might be a suggestion when you’re at the hospital.

Good luck when you get there.

They did tell me that if a mock transfer doesn’t work, they always have a solution and it does not mean you can’t have IVF, so although an annoying delay, it can be solved. I hope it hasn’t got you down too much xx

Hi thanks for this, yep they tried both. The tougher one got through slightly but she said couldnt go further without risking damage.

Glad found out before, but frustrated i could have done a year ago if my nhs consultant listened to my fears.

Got to go back to nhs now to get op so hoping it is quick.

Thanks for the other solution info, i def hadnt been told that! Xx

It’s so annoying that we just have to accept and get used to long waits and often wrong/contradictory/incomplete information.

Wishing you all the best with you op! Xx

I've had this done under GA! I havent had any problems since although some consultants are better than others. I also now get a buscopan injection in my bum to relax my muscles prior to transfer.xx

Oh thank you for responding. How was it as that will be me hopefully soon. The clinic said will try to get one of their consultants to do it via nhs so fingers crossed.

They will try an ivf cycle shortly after though if clears maybe it will help us catch again naturally...we can only hope! Did they do quickly after yours?

Will mention the injection too xx
