This is our first round of ivf and was delighted to receive a positive result on test day. However yesterday I went for my 6week scan and I was told that they can see the sac and yolk but can’t really see anything inside therefore unable to detect a heartbeat. They have told me to come back again next week for another scan to see if anything has developed, if not they will advise of next steps if I’ve miscarried.
I’m trying to stay positive but am also really upset too..
Has anyone come across this situation before? Where nothing showed on week 6 but something was there week 7?!
Thanks in advance for any advice and info 🙂

Hi,I just wanted to say congratulations for your BFP and making it to 6 weeks. I think they recommend 6.5 to give enough time to properly see the heartbeat so hang in there. I know how tough this week will be but have everything crossed that it was just a little early and you'll be reassured. Take care xx
Thank you. I think I would feel more reassured if I still had some symptoms but I don’t. Sore breast sensation has gone as well as my appetite.. But at the same time I know anything can be possible!
This happened to us with our first ivf baby. It's so hard its called a missed miscarriage. I think by 6 to 7 weeks you should see a heartbeat 💔💔 but it could be late developing just prepare yourself either way xx
Hi ❤️ were you exactly 6 weeks yesterday? So 6 + 1 today? This happened to me when I was 5 + 6 days and it was so upsetting and stressful. I was scanned too soon though as one week later his little heartbeat was there ❤️💫 really hoping this is the same outcome for you. Its good that they can see the yolk as well. 🙏
Mine were very up and down. Sometimes had a few Sometimes had none. So hard to tell off of symptoms xxx not too long to go. Hope you're ok ❤️ it's not easy this waiting part
Hi just to update you.. so I was told I was 8weeks +2 as I didn’t know that the day of transfer is classed as 2nd week.Anyway the scan showed that the sac had grown to 9mm (6mm last week) but still can’t see a foetus. But as there has been development they can’t diagnose a miscarriage so they have booked me in for another scan next week!!
We asked what the consultant would recommend in this situation and the likely of there being development.
We have been advised that the doc is happy for me to stop progesterone and see what happens and also he is happy for me to continue with it until next week and assess at the scan. So it’s my choice…
I want to make sure I’ve given it my all but also at the same time I think I know it is very unlikely for a foetus to start developing in the 8th or 9th week..
