Cysts at baseline scan - help!

Hey ladies,

I have two cysts on my left ovary. 22mm and 19mm. They are testing bloods to see if they are “active” otherwise my egg collection will be cancelled.

Any experiences of this?

Update - they are now removing cysts tomorrow and will continue stims. Is this safe and ok for eggs?!

Thanks so much x

Heya,

I’ve just done another round and am in my TWW now. On my first scan after starting injections they found 3 cysts on my right ovary. I have severe endometriosis. They said that they might not be able to access that ovary at egg collection and I just carried in with the rest of the cycle as normal. I am concerned that they are there but hoping they won’t interfere with implantation. I managed to get 3 embryos from 5 eggs so I’m hoping one out of the 3 will work! How long until your egg collection? I guess they need to see what kind of cysts they are. My clinic said they will always try and collect around cysts but if there’s any chance of them puncturing them then they just leave them and won’t risk it! I hope you get your results soon and that they let you know what’s going to happen xxx

Thank you so much and wishing you lots of luck!

So they continued with your egg collection despite the cysts? Did they draw blood to check levels? Did they say anything about egg quality and cysts? Xx

Yeah they carried on with the cycle as normal as I had four good sized follicles growing on the right ovary. I’m thinking that perhaps they didn’t get any from the side with cysts, or if they did it would have only been one. I think at the last scan before collection they were all a bit under sized on that side anyway. The one they transferred was a 5AA I think and the other two were B quality that were frozen. I was really shocked as was worried I wouldn’t have any to transfer having only had 5 collected. I sadly had a miscarriage last round from a frozen transfer so hoping for a different outcome this time. It’s all such a gamble! Perhaps because of my Endo diagnosis they just went ahead as maybe I’m much more likely to get chocolate cysts. I was concerned at first but they were confident they would effect anything after transfer. We shall see! When will you hear about it? Xx

I am so sorry it’s been such a tough road.

They just told me they will remove cysts tomorrow and to start stims tomorrow - all seems a bit much! Won’t fiddling around in there have adverse effects?! X

I think certain types of cysts can just be drained, so that must be what they are going to do. Chocolate endo cysts have to be removed or shrunk I think. Hopefully the stims will take a few days to kick in so that they can recover a bit. I guess they will monitor them during all your scans. It’s good that they are still going ahead and no delays! I hope it all goes ok and wishing you loads of luck. It’s such an anxious time with so many ups and downs! Xx

I had a cyst at one of my baselines, they aspirated it and it returned so they did bloods and as it was not active we proceeded and it’s didn’t affect et collection

This is so reassuring thank you. I am having it aspirated today - the same day I start stims. Just worried the aspiration process might impact egg quality?! Any advice? Thanks so much xx

No so the aspiration is done the same was as egg collection, they’ll sedate you and with the camera go straight to the cyst and drain it. I can’t remember what day I started stims but pretty quickly after as the cyst refilled and we just got on with it! I’m sure all will be fine, good luck lovely x

Thank you so so much! So basically the aspiration process didn’t impact your egg quality at all? Sorry for the clarification I am just panicking ❤️

I had a cyst in my egg collection cycle. The doctors though it was a follicle at the time (they did not notice it during the baseline scan, for some reason... and this was one of the reasons I changed clinics) but after several appointments with no other changes, they told me it was a cyst. In my case it disappeared by itself. I remember that the other follicles did not start to grow until it disappeared I think that it will be safe and it is good they are not canceling and that they discovered them from the start.

That’s very reassuring thank you x

Hi thereI’ve just come back from my baseline scan this morning and they found a cyst on my left ovary. They have taken bloods and will get back to me today to decide the route forward but it may be we need to delay ICSI. 😢 I guess they just want everything to be in the best condition possible before starting what is already quite an intense process…

I hope that the cyst removal goes well and that you can continue on your journey asap xxx

So sorry you are in the same position! Did they say if it was inactive you can continue? X

They said it would depend on the hormone level results that the blood tests return 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
