Bleeding at 7 week 5 days

Hi Ladies,

So i am lucky to be carrying my bub and have had blood clots from week 6 and bleeding off and on since then. I am currently just experiencing brown blood but it looks like coffee grounds and everyone has said that is the tell for a miscarriage. I am also getting period cramps which come and go intermittently.

I have been discharged from the ivf clinic (this happens at 7 weeks) and my obstetrician is away til the start of August (using the same one i used for my first bub).

I have been told if it continues to go to emergency but to be honest having a 2.5 year old and my hubby who works away for another 3 weeks i can't just drop everything and head to emergency to wait hours to be seen.

Has anyone experienced bleeding and everything be ok? To be honest i know they can't do anything for a miscarriage so i don't want to waste peoples time with finding out it was nothing or that i am miscarrying.

The previous times i was bleeding all my test came back on target for the weeks i was. the scan i had last Monday showed a strong heartbeat, but we all know that can change in an instant.

Anyone experienced this and been ok? I guess i just want to know i am not alone and i am feeling so lost and scared. Especially not having my hubby here to comfort me.

Thank you. I’m currently sitting in emergency to get seen as the blood went through my thick dress and down my legs 😵 it’s not looking good. Thank you though

I would take a pregnancy test to see if level still strong. I myself bleed Al the way through my pregnancy. I lost count how many times I was admitted into hospital for bleeding. Times it was extremely heavy. So really does happen. I was carrying twins. They are 2 now. It's really frightening. Awful toilet fear. Wish you well in your pregnancy. The bleeding is nothing to worry about. Xxx

It went through my dress and down my legs so I’m just waiting to be seen in emergency to see if they can scan me and check the Bub is still there. It is terrifying. This bleed is like next level. And I had massive cramps and stabbing feelings. I’m hoping for the best but getting prepared for the worst xo

Hey, I don't have much advice but didn't want to read and run. So sorry you're going through this, especially when your husband can't be there and you need to take care of your little one, and I really hope you have a positive outcome. Sending lots of hugs xxx

Just read your post. I hope you're ok. I completely feel you. My husband works away alot and it's hard to deal with life and a toddler on your own. Hugs from the little people are the best in this situations. When I lost my pregnancy I told my boy I was feeling a bit sad and he made me feel better with all the kisses and cuddles x

i had bleeding at 6w+6 (bright red and like fresh clots), 8w+4 (brown coffee grounds) and 9w+6 (brown coffee grounds). All times felt that was the end. I went for a scan on 7w+0 after the first bleed and knew everything was ok. Did speak with my ob-gyn and she mentioned this was quiet common and this was just the baby nestling (a new term) and this happens in the first trimester.

The only thing the gyn told me was to monitor for uterine cramps and blood that will soak a entire pad (sorry, TMI). If thats happens, get to the Emergency room, else it is ok to spot and bleed for an hour or so when it is not huge.

I am currently 12w+4d and all is well with the little one. Good luck with yours. 🤞🤗 See if you are able to get a private scan. I am doing one every other week in between the official ones from the clinic.

Hiya. I had a massive bleed at 7 weeks pregnant and was convinced i had miscarried. But when I went for my scan at the IVF clinic they said I had a haematoma. Apparently bleeding is more common in IVF pregnancies for lots of reasons. After my bleed at 7 weeks I had spotting for about 3 to 4 weeks after. It looked exactly as you described, like coffee grounds, and was accompanied by on and off cramping. By about 12 weeks my spotting had stopped. I'm now 26 weeks pregnant and all looks good.

If you are concerned I would go to your local EPAU (early pregnancy unit). They can do reassurance scans if there is spotting up to 16 weeks. They can sometimes even see you the same day. I had about 3 to 4 scans between 7 and 12 weeks because of my spotting. They also said that brown blood is old blood.

I know it's really scary and I felt exactly like you, convinced the spotting and cramping was a miscarriage. But not all bleeding means this, especially if you've seen a heartbeat. Hope this can reassure you a bit xx

I’ve had a very similar thing - had my scan yesterday and everything was fine with bub. I have bleeding coming from where my placenta is forming on the other side of baby. The nurse wasn’t concerned but told me to expect a brown loss at some point. My brown discharge also looks a bit like coffee grounds because it gets mixed with the progesterone. I’m only 7 weeks today, but I would go to epu straight away if I bled again despite being shown on scan where it’s coming from. This journey is rough!

I'm so sorry you are experiencing this. I have experienced bleeding in my pregnancy started with brown discharge that got worse. The first time this did end in an miscarriage. The second time however, when I went for the scan all came back well but on the same day after the scan I came home and had a very ted fresh blood bleed and panicked again. Went back in for a scan about 5 days later as was the quickest I could be seen and everything was still fine. The bleeding still took a fee more weeks to settle and continued to make me apprehensive that something was wrong. I dont think it really went completely until the 12 weeks when I stopped taking the pessaries. I can absolutely understand your worry and tbh there probably is not a lot that can be said to ease your worry. Wishing you all the luck in the world that everything is fine. Xx

I had bleeding for a week at 6 weeks but all was ok! Contact your early pregnancy unit , they were amazing and scanned me immediately regardless the fact I was ivf

Lovely, I bled from 5 weeks until 14wks, had multiple scans and they couldn’t find why I was bleeding. I now have my 3.5yr old. I’m not sure why these things happen but they can. However I’m not a doctor or midwife, my advice would be to get to an early pregnancy unit. The good thing you have on your side is a strong heartbeat at 7 weeks although this doesn’t always mean it will go smoothly it drops the miscarriage rate down considerably. I’m praying it’s just being a pain in the bum (start as they mean to go on). Please do keep us updated and fingers crossed everything is ok xx

Hi all, thought I’d update you all. And thank you all for your messages, it means a lot knowing I’m not the only one. After I wrote this 2-3 hours later I had stabbing pains in my tummy and went toilet and the blood was all through my knickers, through the liner I was wearing and through the back of my dress, and I’m talking a ton. It was terrifying. I went to emergency straight away and have to admit was seen extremely quickly. They found the heartbeat again thankfully but said I’m on the verge of loosing it, my body is doing too much and I need bed rest. Did a urine test which I have to give too much information was just blood so again thought I’d lost it but they have said the heart beat is there but if you don’t have bed rest this pregnancy will end very quickly and soon. They checked my bloods, and gave me the anti d shot due to my blood type being negative. I haven’t bled badly since and it seems to be just pinkish coming out now as it’s the following day.

Told the hubby and he was sent home straight away from work which is a blessing. So it’s literally stay in bed and see in the next few days what happens. Will do another blood test on Friday to determine if my hormones are dropping and just gotta hope staying in bed will help keep this viable. 😵‍💫

Yes I had bleeding early on so I went to doctors who sent me for an early internal scan at 8 weeks. All was ok, the bleeding was brown slow sludge. I had bleeding through out especially when pushing on the loo( pardon the graphicness). I have a heart shaped womb which is a recipe for miscarriages and difficult births.

All was ok in the end and I stopped panicking if I bled lightly.

I think you should get checked out just to be safe. It will give some reassurance hopefully. Your not wasting anybody time they want you to be looked after.

I have experienced both, blood from miscarriages and a blood from a clot at week 5 until week 7 in pregnancy. My miscarriages were mainly red blood throughout. When I got the brown/black blood, it was followed by red blood immediately. As for the clot that I got while pregnant, it started with a gush of dark red blood (twice), turned into spotting red blood for a few days then i had brown blood for a few weeks which according to my doctor it meant the old blood is coming out. This pregnancy was successful and I had a healthy baby boy. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions or if need some support during this time. I know how intense these weeks can be. All the best to you and little bub xxx
