Working after transfer?

As the title suggests, I’m having a dilemma on whether I should take some time off after transfer or carry on working?

I’m a support worker so my day to day work is being out and about, going for walks ect. It can be quite stressful and draining.

I’m just wondering what other did after their transfer? I plan on asking the doctors at the hospital after the transfer but I just feel like I’ll be worrying that being at work will affect anything?

Any advice? Xx

I think it’s quite an individual choice, but my clinic were clear with me that’s there’s no evidence for resting up after a transfer so I don’t think working or not will effect your outcome. But if taking time is going to a beneficial to your well being perhaps it’s worth it? For me work helps me from going insane during the 2WW as when I’m at home I just Google symptoms obsessively! Best of luck for your transfer, got everything crossed for you xxx

I agree with Claire, I think its personal opinion really. in the 'olden' days they used to say bed rest for 2 weeks but these days they think moving round improves the blood flow to the uterus which is much better for supporting any potential pregnancy. I think keeping busy is a good idea, and I have always worked and carried on as normal post transfer. The main thing to avoid is heavy lifting, excessive exercise, and hot baths! But tbh even when I asked the nurse about the lifting (I was worried about carrying heavy bags on my commute into London for hours) she said 'heavy lifting' was all relevant.. so if you were used to carrying something heavy on a regular basis you could carry on doing it - it was more about excessively heavy.

I wouldn't have wanted time off work as I would have obsessed about every twinge. Well I did that anyway(!!) but at least I had a few distractions in between because I kept working!

Good luck xx

It won’t risk your chances of success to work, but if you’d feel happier taking some time off then definitely go for it.

I usually work after mine - personally I’d rather take a couple of days off after test day because I find that bit super emotional either way! I did take the whole 2 weeks off after my last transfer though as I had leave to use so thought why not.

It’s difficult to say if I’d recommend it 😂 I drove myself insane googling and testing but tbh I’d have probably done that anyway as I wfh mostly. If you take time off make sure you fill your time - plan to meet friends, go for walks to keep your blood flow going, do things that make you happy.

Wishing you all the luck xx

I think just do what you’re most comfortable with and won’t regret. Work may be a good distraction but if you’ll worry about it affecting your chances because it’s stressful then take some time off and do nice things to distract yourself like seeing friends, nice walks etc. xx

I was advised by my clinic to avoid physical activity as much as possible for 2-4 days after transfer, and after that live as normally as possible but be sensible. So I took the day of transfer and following day off work and did little else than watch Netflix!! However, I have an office job so nothing strenuous involved. I was glad to go back after that to occupy my mind! Best of luck 💕 x

I'm all for staying active. After my transfer I stayed at home and rested and now I'm convinced that's why it didn't work! For me activities= good blood circulation. After the first transfer we went on holiday with bikes - it was successful. Plus, keeping my head busy is good for me.

You can go wrong here, but do whatever you feel is best so you don't second guess yourself x

I’m a teacher and so super busy so I took two days off after transfer. I got BFP both times I did this but not sure if it’s that the made it work. Wishing you lots of love and luck! Xx

Hi lovely!I think it depends on how your days at work go and whether you can look after yourself!

I took time off throughout my stims and post transfer - I work as a nurse in the NHS on a high dependency ward and honestly couldn’t tell you the last time I took my proper breaks or drank/ate anywhere near enough on shift. Plus we’re only offered one fresh cycle in my CCG so I wanted to give it my best shot! I gave myself a week at work to see how it went once I started at it was pure hell 😂 my manager was super understanding and my GP signed me off as non-clinical no questions asked

I think it’s down to how you feel at the end of the day so don’t feel guilty for whatever choice you decide to make xx

I had 6 transfers total, with my successful transfer I was working as a teacher and found that working took my mind off of over thinking. With my other 5 transfers I didn't have work and it was harder.

I belive if the embryo is going to implant it's going to do so no matter what you do or don't

You know your body best. I didn't take the day off in the past because I thought I could manage everything. I'm not sure that was the right thing to do. I do office work and I seat many hours without moving around. This is an issue for me due to poor circulation. Now I think that it would have been better for me to take the day off. Also because psychologically i don't want to feel stressed trying to pretend at the office that im feeling ok when the hormones are messing with me. I would rather pamper myself and do something that makes me feel good. But you know best.
