5+4 no fetal pole

Hello! So after a stressful weekend of hcg tests, I had a scan at the epu this afternoon. I’m 5+4. They saw the gestational sac and yolk sac measuring 5 and half weeks. No embryo or fetal pole was seen but the sonographer said that’s normal, wouldn’t expect to see it. I’m beyond stressed over the whole thing and knew the scan would only add to my stress. I’m just looking for reassurance (again!). Thank you to all the ladies who have been helping me the last few days, you are all amazing ♥️X

This is completely normal and what you would expect to see at 5+4. You are measuring bang on as well.

You might want to switch to the Fertility Network - Pregnancy Support group - thats a group for women who have got pregnant via IVF or similar and are facing similar sort of worries to you.

Its all sounding and looking good, so try and take a deep breath as like I said before the only thing you can do to influence the outcome is not be stressed!! Good luck and congrats again x

Thank you so much, your words got me through last week! I ended up with a massive bleed/pains but fortunately so far everything is ok. Thanks so much again xxx

That’s what we saw at that stage and wasn’t until just over a week or so later we saw the fetal pole and heartbeat, but even then they said they might not see a heartbeat until 7-8 weeks. Are you going back for another scan next week? Xx

Thank you!! I ended up having 2 scans after this one last week. One after a big bleed at 5+6 and another a couple of days later at my clinic. Fortunately the baby is ok and had a heartbeat at both scans. Hopefully it stays that way 🤞🤞🤞xxx

Aww that good news I’m so pleased to hear that 🤗💜 xx

This all sounds very normal. Try not to worry. The waiting in all stages of IVF is so hard. You’re doing great!xx

Im 5 weeks today and supper anxious. Was offered blood test but I think I'll decline as that give you no factual information. It's only a piece of jigsaw in that very moment. The clinic said it's too early to do the scan, the earliest they can do is late 6 weeks. Try to enjoy the fact that you're pregnant, you'll never get that time back ❤️

I totally understand why you would decline the bloods, I wish I had as all it did was cause more stress. Thank you, I really need to remember that 💕 and congrats to you too ♥️Xxx

When is your next scan? My clinic wouldn't scan me before 7 weeks as they said I wouldn't see anything....x

My next scan is on Thursday at my early pregnancy unit. My clinic scanned me after the above mentioned scan because I had a massive bleed so they wanted to keep a check on that. Otherwise my normal clinic scan would be 7 weeks for the same reason you mention! Xx

Great! Seems like we are not far off each other. Keep in touch x

Why do clinics scan this early 😒 its like they're impatient and it causes unnecessary stress and upset. Same thing happened to me at 5 weeks 6 days. I was distraught but went back a week later and everything was there ❤️💫 sounds good so far and normal at the stage your at xxx

Aw I’m so glad everything was ok when you went back 💕 that’s wonderful! It was my early pregnancy unit that scanned so early…I have a bit of a complicated history with the unit so I kinda understand why plus they wanted to check the pregnancy was in the right place. Regardless, it did cause me a lot of upset! Xx

You're right, after I posted I did think of ectopic pregnancy and I know they are most likely checking for this. Still so stressful. When's your next scan? Xx
