Progesterone dropped. Should I be worried?

Hi guys!!

I finally have my pregnancy and Im at five weeks. I just got bloodwork done and my hcg is at 6,000 (rounded down) and my progesterone at 26; however, my progesterone six days ago was 37. I do t have anymore bloodwork and my first scan will be in two weeks.

Should I be worried about this drop?

Btw this cycle was a natural fet and Im one Crinone 8% once a day in the morning.

Hi Gaby,My clinic advised they like progesterone leverls to be above 30 so I'd definitely contact your clinic about it. You can't have too much progesterone as far as I'm aware so theres no risk in taking more.

My body doesn't absorb the pessaries well so I was on injections.

You need through til 12 weeks as that's when the placenta takes over.

Best of luck xxx

Hi there. Well for some reason for my clinic does not want it below 20, but it is so close already. So, for them my progesterone is still on “normal” levels. I did explain my concern to the nurse and spoke with one of the doctors on call, but again what the nurse responded is that it is normal for progesterone to fluctuate and that my cycle was natural, so my own body is producing the progesterone with the corpus luteum + the progesterone in gel. However, I dont see fluctuation. I see decline. 😩

Hi Gaby. Perhaps contact your clinic and see whether you need to take some form of progesterone as a top up. Hope all continues as it should. Diane
