Hi All

Hope everyone is doing well. So Im about to embark on an IVF ICSI cycle in the hope to bank so Embryos. This will most likely be last cycle and if this fails I think I will move on to DE. I really want to give this cycle the best shot and I have read that taking protein shakes help not only protein intake but quality of eggs and embroys. Has anyone included protein shakes in the diet any brand you would recommend? Did you go for Pea or Whey protein shake? any smoothie recipies would also be welcomed. Thank you in advance and hope whichever stage of your IVF journey you are on you are well and happy x

Hey I did before and plan to again - I did with full fat milk and organic blueberries. This was recommended by a nutritionist - that cycle didn't work but I conceived after the failed cycle straight away! Not that this drink made a difference! But I felt so healthy on it.....😀 I used organic Whey I think the brand was Pulsin or something like that - not cheap at all....x

Hi Applepie7 I didn’t do shakes but I found it really difficult to get enough non-meat based protein in to my diet, so I bought pea protein powder and added it to things like scrambled eggs, porridge, soup etc. I wouldn’t know where to start with smoothies so found this was the easiest option for me. All the best xx

I can’t say Iv heard that protein powder helps but I take it after workouts anyway. I couldn’t stand the smell of the vegan one I have called sunwarrior but with berries and water, Iv been able to drink it

I used to take protein shakes and protein based products. My first cycle failed with only one ovule which wasn´t mature enough. I then changed my diet. I have been eating a lot of nuts and seeds, overnight oats, lot of fish and eggs. I just had my second cycle, and I have got 6 ovules, 5 mature (21 cm each) and 1 not mature enough. I know my numbers are still in the lower end, but I feel quite glad to have imprve from none to 5.

Hi Applepie, I've started to take protein/collagen powder for the last few months in prep for a cycle. Just to get a good amount of protein in. Personally I take a Vital Proteins one but you might be interested in Anna Rapp's blog To Make a Mommy. She has a post there comparing all the different types if I recall. I found it interesting!

Just watch out for the level of caffeine in the powder. I was taking some slender blend in my porridge until I realised that it has high caffeine and the website actually advised against taking it whilst pregnant. I had no idea. Since then I’ve struggled to find caffeine info on lots of powders, which is a shame, because I really miss chocolate powder in my oats! If you manage to find any please let me know xxx
