Waiting for the wait..

Hi everyone,

From what I've read so far, a lot of people on the forum are a long way ahead of me and my husband so I'm hoping you can help with some tips for managing the wait to start treatment.

Unfortunately, husband has azoospermia. We found out about 8 weeks ago after a year of trying. We waited until we were married to start trying and had to defer our wedding due to covid.

We're awaiting husband's kariotype blood test result before being referred for ICSI. We've been provisionally told that it will be at least 8 months before starting treatment if they can retrieve sperm.

All the uncertainty is really difficult and I would like to feel like I'm doing some positive in the meantime to help us reach our goal.

I've recently turned 34 and my husband is 37, so every month feels like it counts in terms of the ticking clock.

I'm sure many of you have been here, so any advice on coping strategies would be most welcome.

Thank you and wishing you all the very best in your own long journeys x

Hi! The waiting is horrible🙈 I find concentrating on one appointment at a time. Don’t keep thinking of the end result ( even though it’s the only thing you want to think about!)

Good luck on your journey 😘

Hi, oh the waiting is definitely the worst. I started acupuncture, not only does it help with fertility but i found it really helped me relax at times. Also agree with Fairytale22 just take one step at a time, one appointment at a time. Take time for yourself most importantly 💗 xx good luck xx

Sorry to hear you are in this situation, the waiting is the absolute worst. I tried to focus on things I could control, like making sure we were both as healthy as possible, and concentrated on one step at a time. Also check if there are cancellation lists you can be on to speed things up and make sure you have ticked every box at each stage. Good luck, it's a rubbish diagnosis but a lot of people have positive outcomes x

Thank you for all the encouragement Fairytale22, SammyMc7 and E-MD. Whilst it feels pretty bleak to us both at the moment, it is good to know we are not alone. I will definitely try and take the one day at a time approach, which will be a challenge for me but probably a good life lesson. I hope all of you further up this mountain cam see some blue sky peaking through. From the kindness of your words, you deserve every happiness. Thank you again xx☀️
