We have just spoken to a clinic abroad and discussed treatment using donor eggs and sperm. We were told that with them you are guaranteed 2 blastocysts, but that three is their average. Does this seem normal? I kind of thought that donors would achieve higher numbers on average?
This is the first clinic we've spoken to so just wondering wether to speak to other clinics or wether this is normal?
Thanks in advance - baby dust to all!

Hi, I think I was told they usually expect 4 from double donor. From fertilisation they said they expected half of those to be blastocysts and I got 1 more than half and ended up with 5.
Hi there, we went down the egg donor route and had 9 eggs, 8 viable eggs. I was a little deflated at first hoping we would get more eggs and worrying there would be a big drop off, but we ended up with 4 embryos 😀. I think they may use milder stimulation in some donor cycles. We were very lucky with our first transfer 😀🌸 and have 3 in the freezer.
Hiya, we had 14 donor eggs, 9 fertilised, 6 made it to day 5 blastocysts and we had them all tested and ended up with 3 normal embryos. Maybe check with them if they can guarantee they are 2 normal?
With my clinic, we were offered, 1 donor - 2 guaranteed embryos, 2 donors - 5 guaranteed embryos. Accordingly the cost was different as well as it meant 2 stims. There was another offer of 1 donor - 1 embryo which was a bit cheaper in terms of cost.
Hi,our first donor round we got 5 embryos we didn’t get them pga tested & unfortunately none ended in a pregnancy. Our second donor we have got 7 embryos.
Currently on the 2ww on our second embryo from this round 🤞
With my first round I got one 3bb, second round I got 6 blastocysts. I didn’t have them PGA tested. Ended in 2 miscarriages (5+4 and 7) and 2 chemicals (one of which was a double transfer). Would recommend a guarantee programme, where the clinic guarantee you a minimum number. Good luck!
