Hey, I'm also having egg collection on the 18th. As my clinic uses sedation I've found it completely painless. Last time I was aware but not completely conscious if that makes sense. I don't think the actual procedure takes long, maybe 20 mins, but there's the wait beforehand as my clinic checks everyone in first. Then there is the monitoring and recovering to be awake afterwards which is an hour or so. That said, every clinic is different! Usually you take progesterone for transfer after and take it easy afterwards. I wouldn't worry at all. I've found the experience fine and you get well looked after. Good luck!! X

Hey both times sedated. My clinic is a NHS hospital - first round was NHS, second is private. Clinical procedure exactly the same. Good luck! X

Hi there! I had my first egg retrieval on Friday and was very nervous, but it was better than I expected! I was at a private clinic and I had about an hour wait in a ward three other women before it was my turn. They checked some details with me and got me into a gown. I had to have general anaesthetic due to the position of my right ovary. There were five people in the theatre when I went in, who checked my name and details, then I got onto the table and they put me out.

I was awake twenty minutes later and was told immediately how many eggs they’d retrieved as they wheeled me back to the ward. I was sore but it was no worse than bad period cramps. I was given water, a coffee and some biscuits and I was discharged two hours later once I’d eaten, drunk and been to the loo. I was a bit sore for the rest of the day and still am today a bit later but it’s nothing paracetamol and a hot water bottle can’t manage. Afterwards just be kind to yourself and have a gentle few days. 🙂

Hi! I’ve had the op twice now (NHS) and I’ve been completely asleep and not been at all aware of anything. The second time I wasn’t nervous because I knew it would be fine. The first time I had some cramping when I woke up but paracetamol soon helped. My second op was just on Monday there and I had no pain at all when I woke up. If your experience is anything like mine I promise you don’t need to feel scared at all. Good luck x

It was the best nap I’ve ever had ☺️I was sooooo nervous before it but honestly it was totally fine. I remember them telling me to count backwards as they put the sedation in and I only remember getting to 7. I then woke up all wrapped in a cover having had a great wee snooze, it was the most refreshing sleep of had in ages. I didn’t have much pain even though they collected 13 eggs. The couple of days after were a bit sore and bloated but I’ve had worse period pain and I just rested up. I genuinely thought it was going to be horrendous but I found the hyscospocy thing (where they check your tubes are clear) MUCH worse and even that was bearable. Lots and lots of luck for Monday 🤗 xx

I was really scared as have a huge fear of anaesthetic. But it was all totally fine. You are in and out quite quick… and no pain or anything. You’ll ace it! Xx

Hey, yeah the sedation feeling is the best bit 😂 Was a bit different this time though, kind of felt a bit of pain/pressure down below. Then in recovery felt a bit queezy and had to be tilted. Overall good though - good to get a sandwich and tea after! Bit disappointing on the egg front - 30+ follicles, 18 eggs, only 3 fertilised, 2 blasts. Shock on the fertilisation as most fertilised last time on lower stims this time I was on 450 stim and had to use non HCG trigger. Hope you had a good result? 💜 Two week wait to get through now!... Xx

Lucky thing, I had to bring my own lunch and I didn’t get tea! Lol.Wow that’s more eggs than I produced. This is my 1st round, 13 eggs, 8 fertilised, 3 blasts - 1 implanted and 2 frozen. But I am a bit worried about the quality of the ones they froze…Did you have both put in?I was on 75 Gonal F and 150 menopur but I don’t have a clue what it all means! I just did as I was told 😅

TWW is already driving me insane. I’m so anxious, trying to stay busy but also trying to take it easy 🤷‍♀️ 😬 This is the worst part so far. Any tips?! Xx

That sounds like a great result for you 🙂 I only got more eggs as on max dose stims. I was recommended to transfer 2 due to my age, but just transferred one as worried about twins and complicationsI wish I did have tips for the 2ww! Same as you trying to relax yet stay busy!! I hope the sun stays out as that helps to get out and about! Good luck X

Hi, I’ve had 2 rounds and both were painless (I was out for 15 mins). With the first round I was a bit uncomfortable going for a wee for 2-3 days, but with the second there was no discomfort. I know it can be scary but it’s a very quick procedure and once it’s done you’ll get some toast and tea/coffee and will know how many eggs they managed to retrieve. I had mine done privately. Good luck!!! ☺️
