Feeling hopeless

So we had our EC on Monday and then I got a positive for covid so no transfer this cycle but the embryologist called this morning to say they have 3 blastocysts. The only thing is the quality…she said that we have one that is BB and the other two are BC. I feel so upset as she said these aren’t the best does anyone have any success stories or reassurance? The whole grading thing I know is brutal but I’m just feeling hopeless….

I wouldn't worry too much about the grading. It's mainly around quality for freezing and sometimes quality of the thaw.

But if they're good enough to freeze they're good enough to work!

I had a BFP and currently 6+3 🤞🤞🤞 from a double transfer of 5bc and 4cc and had a really faint chemical from a 5ab so you just never know xx

Thank you that helps. It feels such an uphill struggle that when you hear anything that feels like it hampers your chances any more it just gets a bit much x

I agree with your statement whole heartedly! My fertility specialist called the other day and spoke of the lowered success rates for my embryos and I was devastated! Only to find out on here that so many others have had success with embryos graded poorly. Keep your head up, once their snug in the womb you never know what amazing things could happen ♥️

Our hopes are easily shattered as this whole process is so tough but definitely feel more positive today. Wishing you the best of luck x

My daughter was a 4bc and we have had a miscarriage from a 5AA and BFN from 4AB. I wouldn’t worry about the grade. A blastocyst is a blastocyst and if good enough to freeze then that’s great!

Thank you! ☺️

Honestly I’ve just had a chemical from a 5aa and before that a bfn with a 5ab I honestly wouldn’t worry about grading xxx

Thank you for replying and sorry to hear that - this whole process is rough!

We transferred a 4ab and 4bc together and one of them, no way to know which, is now my toddler. Three blasts is great news. Hope you don't get poorly with the Covid and are ready to get them back in their Mummy soon xxx

I love that you asked this question today! We have the same grades as you and are due to have our first FET on Monday! All these responses have given me hope! 😍😍😍

Gosh best of luck 😊 we won’t be able to do one for a little while as will need to wait for covid to pass and then my period etc but hopefully before too long we can try an FET. It’s so hard to stay positive, this is our second round and thought I would be more resilient to it all by now!

The waiting is really frustrating! We had our collection in November! Hopefully you don’t feel too bad from your covid!

No not really a few rough days but nothing compared to a lot of people and very lucky it didn’t rear it’s head until after EC!

From my partners embryo freezing cycle we have a day 5 4BB and 2x 4BC. Our embryologist described them as good embryos and when we had our review with our consultant (well known London Clinic) he said “ lots of babies come from BC embryos”. I panicked because there’s not a cats chance in hell our nhs clinic would freeze anything below a BB! that might impact on their statistics 🙃 True Story - One of the patients from my nhs clinic actually insisted on transferring her 5BC embryo and freezing the A grade. Her 5BC is 18 months old and the FET she just completed with the A grade was bfn.. All the best of luck to you xx

Thank you, that’s helped me feel a bit better. The whole process is so emotional and stressful and it’s so easy to get pulled into a negative spiral and blame yourself for not producing A grade embryos…

Currently BFP (6+3 weeks) after a double transfer of a 3BB and a 4CB! I'm not sure what has stuck or how things will progress but this is after lots of "better" grades, including a 4AA, not sticking at all. Hope that helps give you some comfort ☺️ xx

They didn’t give me any numbers just the letters 🥴 maybe I should ask about that? Thank you, that does give me hope. It’s so hard it feels like constant knocks when you just want a positive sign that there is light at the end of the tunnel! Huge congratulations and wishing you lots of luck x

Thank you! And yes it's so so hard! And it all just feels so outside of our control and yet so much is riding on the outcome and we're a putting in a huge amount of effort. But there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel! If they are good enough to freeze, they are good enough to transfer and will give you a shot (x3!) at your baby ❤️❤️

I think some clinics grade differently and don't do numbers but you could ask? They link to how "expanded" it is and a number 4 or 5 is best.

Great thank you, I will ask when I speak to them next week. I’ll try and stop fixating on the grading and just be glad for the 3 chances we have, as I appreciate that isn’t always something we get either x

My only IVF BFP was with a 3bb and 3bc transfer.. also FETs often have more success as your body has had time to recover from the collection.. good luck x

Hi Chrissie83,Don’t lose hope, it’s only a grade - you could have AA that look good and don’t take (happened to us) or a BC egg that works… we had our little boy from a BC egg!! Don’t lose hope xx

I’m currently pregnant with twins using my last A grade and my lowest graded C embryo and both and doing equally as well! So try not to worry too much, my consultant said to me only gold standard embryos with the potential to make a baby make it to freeze 🥰 so those three blastocysts have heaps of potential lovely! Hope you’re not too poorly with covid x

They couldn’t even grade mine as they hadn’t made blast by day 5 ( didn’t have excess to freeze) so I transferred anyway (fresh) and he was 1 last week !!!

Don’t worry about grading. It doesn’t mean anything. I sent 5 blastocysts to test, the best grading I have is BA. But I got 3 normal blastocysts: BA, BB, BB. The one BA is my son who is in my arm now. Good luck for your transfer.

In my third I had a fresh and frozen transfer. The fresh resulted in a BFN. On my frozen cycle the doctor told me that they’d accidentally used the best embryo for the fresh transfer and frozen the worst (my clinic didn’t tell me the grades). I was seriously unimpressed. That crappy embryo is five in a fortnight. If they’d good enough to freeze, they’re good enough. Grading is nothing. My friend has a healthy daughter from a two day transfer of her only surviving embryo that she felt they were only transferring because they had to do something!!!

I got my first postive ever two weeks from a frozen 4bb! So dont worry if they are good enough to freeze they are good enough i think !! Xx
