Supplements for severe male factor

It’s been 3 years since we did a fresh cycle so I know things might have changed in that time. Back then my husband took Fertilsan M supplements, but wondering what clinics are recommending now for severe MFI?

Would be great to hear what others have to say - hubby is currently on Fertilsan M too, when I asked our clinic all they said was ‘anything with enough zinc and selenium’ - not very helpful 😬 xx

After much forum searching it looks like Impryl is being recommended a lot these days so I've just ordered it to try. It's only one tablet a day instead of 3 so hubby is happy!

Diet is important too -nuts are good for your nuts ! Most nuts are good but have high calorie count so limit to 30 grams daily Spinach and other green leafy veg are the key as they are rich in folate Fruits rich in Vit C - fatty fish For Vit D mushrooms and eggs Lean meat can be beneficial Cut down on processed foods- alcohol-caffeine Best wishes for the future

I know this is an old post, but I was just wondering how you guys got on with the different supplements for MFI and if anyone had any success? I'm currently looking at supplements for my husband and it's quite overwhelming! JA-fnuk McQueeny Missl73

Hi lovely, I would recommend he take both Impryl and Proxeed. Take one in the morning and the other in the evening. They each contain a different variety of ingredients - Impryl is mostly B vitamins while Proxeed has carnitines (super important!), vitamin C, vitamin E and other good stuff - so taking both is better than choosing just one or the other. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of MFI was your husband diagnosed with? xx

My husband was taking Impryl - he took it for probably near a year, we had a few failures still, but currently 8 weeks pregnant 🤞💫 x

Thanks for your replies guys. soccerkt6 , I was a bit hesitant about him taking additional supplements with Impryl because their website says that apart from vitamin e and omega 3, they advise against additional supplements (something about it being counter-productive). Not sure whether to believe them. My husband and I conceived our son (now 3) naturally within a few months of trying (I was 37 at the time, he was 38), but have been trying for number 2 for two years with no luck. We had some investigations done and they found he had a low sperm count (3 million) which was a bit of a shock to us. He. has had an ultrasound and they found a small varicocele, but I'm now 41 so we really don't have time for an embolism and were advised to do ICSI. We haven't done fragmentation tests or anything like that, but just trying to do as much as possible to maximise the quality and quantity of sperm before starting IVF.

McQueeny , congratulations on your pregnancy. Were you able to conceive naturally, or did you have IVF?

Heya. Thank you! Not naturally sadly, we did ICSI too, and also added a sperm selection method called MACS (magnetic activated cell sorting). I don’t know if that made a difference…. But we were never offered it in the UK (this was in a clinic in Czechia).
