I found out from an appointment earlier this week I have endometriosis, after the consultant felt nodules (and it felt very painful after this). I wasn’t sure I had endo, I don’t have painful periods (they are regular, medium flow & short). I do experience pain during my period when going for a no. 2, and occasionally during intercourse. That’s it! My sister has an extreme case- she has bad pain during her period. Anyways here I am, MRI next Thursday and then will be laparoscopy .. issues is i want to restart doing IVF again. I had plans for April/ May… The Consultant’s thoughts were confusing, if want baby - go for IVF but if I do lap then could help naturally?! (We have MFI being investigated so I don’t see naturally happening!!). Will having a lap delay my IVF cycle by many months? At 38 time isn’t on my side 😩 Anyone been in a similar situation out there with any thoughts / advise please?! Thanks so much ❤️

Hi! I have endo too, on the pelvic area and close to the bowel but not on it. It is meant to increase chances to conceive naturally (I actually conceived naturally right after surgery but sadly had to terminate at 18 weeks due to foetal abnormalities). I tried to conceive again naturally after that and didn’t happen, so we started investigating and found low AMH and male factor issues too. My specialist recommended not to do surgery a second time if I was looking to start IVF, he said it was best to leave the area alone if starting soon. I suppose it depends on how urgent the surgery is for you. If it helps, my first IVF round (fresh transfer, 5BB), I had a BFP (which turned into a chemical pregnancy) and this second round was a FET, 4BB, also a BFP and I’m 7 weeks so far… Good luck with whatever you decide!
Thank you so much for the reply! Awwww congrats, after reading your your story it was so nice to hear you’re having a baby ❤️ I am sorry it hear about the lows you have been through to get here. I had a miscarriage from first round of ivf but no luck since x3 rounds further). I believe this is mainly dna fragmentation which hopefully we will find out more about in a few weeks. It’s interesting you were also told to wait for further endo treatment , I’m not in major pain thankfully so maybe I should wait. Thanks a lot again really appreciate it and all the best to you and your family.
Hiya, I've had 3 laparoscopies! One from an ectopic rupture and 2 for the removal of the other tube due to a hydrosalpinx (first time they wanted to try and clear it but didn't work). My consultant said we can go straight into IVF the surgery wouldn't effect this in anyway. The recovery period is a few weeks. Once you have the MRI i'm sure you'll have a better understanding of if the endo is causing a lot of damage. Good Luck with everything x
