Ectopic pregnancy
Sorry to read this. It can be hard to come to terms with and I understand the worry of it happening again.
I had an ectopic pregnancy on my 2nd IVF transfer in 2017. I then went on to have a healthy pregnancy on my 3rd transfer. I unfortunately had another ectopic in 2020 after my 4th transfer and am only just feeling ready for transfer number 5.
I found coming to terms with it emotionally took a lot longer than the physical recovery. X
Sorry to hear this! It’s totally understandable to be sad and worried, but that being said it doesn’t mean you will go on to have a other one. My sister in law had an ectopic last year and is now 14 weeks into a healthy pregnancy so far! Good luck x
After how long did she try again if you don't mind, because I did not lo lose any tube, or did surgery, ended like a natural miscarriage. Thanks
She had to wait but only because she had metharexate injections twice so she had to wait 6 months (3 for each injection). With a natural loss I imagine there aren’t restrictions but I would check with your clinic as I’m not sure lovely
Thanks, my doc advised me ivf, but nhs is taking too long, don't know what to do, its been like 2 years since I've done all the tests for ivf, but they haven't started any treatments yet, I'm worried as I'm 38 years.
Ah I see! It can be a long wait nhs, is private an option? Or even contacting your local nhs clinic and seeing if you can at least have the routine tests done privately to get them done? Or ask your Gp to repeat the bloods and things you have to do initially
I’m sorry I know how hard it is - I had an ectopic and lost left tube and then had another ectopic and lost my right tube after an IVF transfer x
@ivfgotadream - I’m sorry to hear about your ectopic pregnancies. I’m currently 5 weeks pregnant following frozen embryo transfer but have had some brown discharge recently over a few days and some pain on lower right side of my tummy. Im getting worried : ( My NHS clinic says it’s too early to scan and just have to wait until 7 weeks for a scan to see what’s happening. They don’t do blood tests either to check HCG/progesterone levels. Do you mind me asking what, if any, symptoms you had that may have indicated it was ectopic? Did you have any pain or particular discharge?
Hey I’ve had two ectopics natural pregnancies then went on to ivf my little girl is 8 months I had to have both tubes removed your high risk of another one if u have already had one it sucks if your tubes are damaged you could have them removed to lower the chances of it happening again xx
Cmc2020 - I’m sorry to hear about your ectopic pregnancies but glad to hear you had a lovely little girl with IVF. Im getting worried : ( My clinic says too early to scan and just have to wait and see. Do you mind me asking what, if any, symptoms you had that may have indicated it was ectopic? Hi, i had bright light discharge and left pain on the abdomen
Hi Varouna, sorry to hear this. I suffered an ectopic pregnancy last year which ruptured my left tube. Last week i had my right tube removed as i also had a hydrosalpinx. They do say if you've had an ectopic you're risk of having another are higher. However this might not be the case. If you have one healthy tube i would say it's worth the risk of trying again naturally, unfortunately that wasn't possible for me. Have you had your tubes checked? As they do say if you go on to have IVF clipping/removing the tubes gives you the best chance of a successful pregnancy as the tubes can leak toxins into the uterus. Hope you're doing ok x
Hi, i will not try myself to get pregnant, I will do ivf
IVF actually increases the risk of an ectopic occurring rather than decrease it x
