We’ve been ttc naturally for the past 10 years. Always just assumed it would happen when the time was right. Starting ivf this month. I’m on day four of menopur and puregon injections. Feeling a bit bloated and twingy in the abdomen area hoping this is good news! My question is how many small follicles did most people start with? I have 12 small follicles at my baseline ultrasound on each side. Is this good? What did most others start with at baseline?
Thanks and good luck to you all!

12 is a really positive number. There isn't a definitive answer it depends on age, egg reserve etc. You will find some people on here who find 1 or 2 follicles and others who have over 20. I wouldn't get too hung up on comparing yourself with other people, its difficult enough with iVF, it just takes one egg and at the moment you have 12 chances of that so sounds good!! Good luck x
Thanks so much for the boost of confidence! You’re right I guess we are just waiting to see how they react to stimulation. A few more days to go… The constant waiting for the next step is torturous!
Hello we are the same ttc for 10 years too. I’m on day 3 of puregon. I’ve got 5 follies on one side and 3 on the other. But usually the left side with 5 is sleeping and the meds don’t seem to do anything to it so I’m down to 3. 12 is a great number to start with xxx
Hi Hopingforbaby. Well that's a very good start. There are a lot of follicles, so if they all get to a decent size, they may want to do a freeze all cycle if they think you are at risk of over stimulating. Not what you were looking for, but if it is to be, then any embryos created will be quite safe while they are waiting for your ovaries to settle back down. As you are feeling bloated, makes sure you drink at least 3L water each day and keep an eye on your urine output, that it is pale and plenty. Good luck! Diane
We had planned to freeze and transfer next cycle anyways (I think this is just how our clinic does it). I’m good with that though I’ve waited this long already another month is okay 😁
I’ve been trying to get a ton of water into me. I go on Wednesday for another scan so hopefully I’ll only have a couple more days to go of the injections for now. It’s not painful but definitely starting to get uncomfortable. The first few days I didn’t bruise or anything from the jabs but now I think because my belly is so bloated it’s making things a little more difficult.
