Down reg before FET with Endo?

I have had to have a freeze all from my first IVF cycle due to fluid being in my uterus and I am moving forwards with a FET.

They want me to down reg for 2 months using Bruselin due to my Endometriosis. I don't want to do this as I have a history of depression and heard it can be a trigger for this?

Has anyone else with Endo down a medicated FET without down regging?

Hi xrach,

I'm sorry, I don't have a specific answer for you, but I have recently been told by my doctor to downregulate for my FET too due to cysts (in my case it's not yet clear whether it's endometriosis or not, I am hopeful it's 'only' a haemorrhagic cyst!). Same as you I am reluctant to take the medication as IVF is difficult as it is, even on short protocols. My understanding from reading the medication leaflets and additional information online is that medications like decapeptyl depot injections, which are often used for that purpose, can lead to depressive symptoms, which are sometimes severe. Women respond differently to medications though. I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but feel free to reach out and let me know how you're getting on! x

Hi rach. I have endometriosis and this one persistent cyst and I am on buserelin for 5 weeks downregging for FET. I'm only 6 days in to it, so can't comment on the symptoms so far as I feel okay. I also have a history of depression. The whole of IVF doesn't help with depression!

Have just realised your question is whether anyone has NOT downregged. Sorry! I have also done one other frozen cycle and did not use buserelin, instead using Fyremedal, which I assume does similar things. I was also put on Evorel 100 at that time. Not sure what that was for! It might have been to offset some of the symptoms of the Fyremedal.

Hello! thanks so much for replying! not downregging or have been, I would love to hear from both sides :) It sounds reassuring that you only need to take it for 5 weeks instead of 2 months which they are suggesting with me! Are you doing daily injections or did you have 1 for the whole 5 weeks? Do you know how long transfer will be once you have completed the 5 weeks?

Daily injections and it's more like 4 and a half weeks, rather than 5 :) Still seems like a long time! But then I'm also very impatient. And hate doing injections generally. After those 4 and a half weeks, I then have a scan, and then hopefully a week until transfer. I also have to start Progynova tablets in a couple of weeks until test date.

thanks so much, this sounds like a much better solution and may suggest it to my Doctor! What clinic are you at? Best of luck with everything!

Hope you don't need the whole 2 months! Although treatment is very individual (I hear), so maybe there's some reason why doing a 2 month down reg would be better. I have to do some blood tests for this cyst and I'm hoping it doesn't delay my treatment 🤞🤞🤞 I'm at Bourn Hall.
