Have my first FET on 24th Jan, I feel really paranoid I will ovulate. I’m on Progynova and my clinic has reassured me but does anyone else worry about this? What if they defrost the embryo on the morning of transfer and I go in and I have ovulated! I had an US two days ago and she said my follicles are still small and dormant looking but still…!
First time for a FET so am over thinking it!

Hi, my FET is also scheduled for 24 Jan! Have endo lining scan on 18th so 🤞 have you had your scan to check lining? I've also worried about ovulation but have to remind myself they do this all the time so have to trust the process😅 it is hard though lol
Yes I had my scan on Friday 14th, but my worry is what if ovulation happens between having had that scan and the transfer, it’s scary 😂 I’m not good with the unknown I like to know what’s going on lol. Best of luck with your FET x
I found the FET much more controlled and gentler than collections - I did not get on well at all with progynova but despite that I think because I understood the meds a bit more and how I would react to oestrogen and progesterone, I felt more prepared and relaxed (but then my collections felt like a series of surprises, panics and general chaos!). I think it's pretty unusual to ovulate when you're on the FET meds and maybe they can monitor you - I had a couple of scans between starting meds and transfer - to see if anything's not right, but hopefully it's fine.
Thanks, Oh no that’s a shame you didn’t get on with Progynova 🥴 it definitely seems less invasive so far doing a FET, I just hate the waiting I want it to happen now 😂
Nope, but I don't react well to oestrogen generally - my lining got very thick and uneven very quickly on it and the clinic wanted to cancel at first as they said it could be polyps and gave me some helpful warnings about the embryo have virtually no chance of implanting and wasting my 'precious' embryo... I didn't even know I had to worry about that as most women on here had been concerned about lining not getting thick enough! Got them to agree to just reduce my oestrogen right down and it resolved itself but then I got it in my head that the embryo wouldn't survive the thaw... So as much as I found the FET better, I still found things to worry over. It was all fine (and it worked!) in the end x
Thank you! I really hope this transfer works! Any tips from transfer day? Did you do bed rest for that day? I’ve heard they say walk to get blood flowing then people also say rest! It’s so confusing x
Not really any tips. I had three transfers all of which were BFPs - first two ended before 6 weeks and turned out in hindsight were never that strong, but third (and my first FET) stuck. The first one I carried on life as normal, second I took time off after and was extra cautious diet and exercise-wise, and third I was super stressed with work (on emails and calls as I went in and came out) and went straight back into work long hours, often into the early hours, plus the clinic messed up my meds, was trying to renovate a house, my family decided to visit, and I was also walking my mental and very large puppy who does not walk to heel... So I think within reason there's not a whole lot you can do to help or to hinder - I have tried both! For me, getting progesterone checked and having a different form and dose probably made the difference, but it could also have been because the body is more recovered for a FET than after collection, or just chance. If I could have done anything, I would have taken the afternoon off, gone for a long walk somewhere nice, then maybe a meal and got an early night, but I didn't and it made no difference x
Thanks this is such good information to have been able to read! I guess neither really makes a difference and if it’s going to stick it will! Keeping everything crossed! X
I did ovulate on the progynova and so they cancelled my transfer. It was discovered by a dominant follicle in the scan prior to starting cyclogest though so there wasn’t a risk to any of my embryos. I think the cycle timing means they would have seen it in your last scan so please don’t worry! Wishing you lots of luck x
This is what worries me! Why did you ovulate on Progynova when it’s meant to stop ovulation? Did they say? My worry is that I get to the clinic find out I’ve ovulated and they’ve already unfrozen the embryo and then what happens then? X
They didn’t say why it happened but I’m trying to transfer again this month having down regulated with injections for 21 days prior to starting progynova, so they must have been concerned that I might do it again. It’s really unlikely to happen to you (especially this late on) but if you’re concerned then take ovulation tests for your piece of mind.
I had clear ovaries at my scan today and FET booked for 25th so our timings are very similar
Oooh that’s good to know thanks! She could see follicles on my scan but they were small and not developed. But they were there? But I assume that’s right? X
Yes, follicles are always there but when you ovulate there is one dominant follicle that grows to be large. This then controls your cycle instead of the meds so messes up all the clinics timings and they can’t schedule a transfer. If you’re clear today and starting progesterone soon you should be all good for next week!
Thanks on Friday they were small so I’m hoping that doesn’t change between now and the 24th then! I’ve had lower back ache since yesterday so I think that’s adding to the ovulation worry now I’ve started to get that symptom x
Don’t worry lol and I’m laughing as I was worrying the exact same thing! I googled ovulating early and while on meds and found a hilarious article with a doctor saying the things she is asked by patients or what we worry about and this was one 😊 I then spoke to my nurse as I was getting lots of egg white discharge and she said that’s totally good shows it’s working and you won’t ovulate the meds do their work … so today is transfer day for me. First time and yep the meds did their work 😊 You are doing great, follicles also are on the move so don’t worry xx
Haha this is funny! I feel mad thinking all of this but I’m sure so many people worry about it! Monday can’t come soon enough! Hope your transfer went well? Keep me posted during your 2ww. Any implementation tips you’ve heard I can try? X
Hi can I please ask how long the process was from starting the medication to transfer day? We are having a FET this time but I don't know what the timings will be. Good luck with yours! 🤞x
Thanks! I started my Progynova meds on day 1 of my bleed which was the 5th Jan, then had my ultrasound on the 14th Jan, I also start taking Cyclogest on the 19th Jan, then have my transfer on the 24th Jan and start Lubion injections that same day. Hope that helps! Good luck x
Lool, seriously so many of us are having the same worries. So transfer went fine, bad news is that my two other embryos didn’t move on enough to freeze. However trying to stat positive for this one. I’ve heard soooo many implantation do’s/myths, who knows but I still did them!! So pineapple and core leading up and after and still having slice a fat. Mac Donald’s chips after you have transfer (no lie all the face book forums have people doing it 😂). Water, 2 litres of water a day, I hardly ever drink anything but here I am guzzling my water bottle all day 😂. Just to warn the pessaries for me give cramps, back ache and the worst flatulance 😬 can’t believe the husbands still around after the foul smells 😂😂
Sorry to hear they didn’t make it to freeze, but also good to know you tried all the tricks in the book! I’ve had such bad lower back ache the past week, not sure if that’s related to the Progynova? Started my Cyclogest today and already feeling bloated 😂
