Pregnant and working from home

Can anyone advice under the current rules if anyone has been moved to working from home? I work full time in an office where people are getting COVID and people haven’t had any vaccinations. I can work from home but they like people to come in, do you think I should be working from home? I’m 14 weeks pregnant. Thank you

Hi, I would say that it really is depending on what you do.

Have you already told your boss about your pregnancy? If so you can propose for example 4 days a week work from home and 1 day in the office.

If the are not open to full time work from home, they might be to other options. Best thing is to start the conversation.

🤞

I think the rules are that if you can work from home without it impacting your job, do so. I’ve worked from home all the way through my pregnancy as I’m not chancing the office that does remain open for “critical work”. Because I know people have been going in unwell and then testing positive, I just didn’t trust the environment or the commute so it wasn’t worth the risk. If you’re uncomfortable going into the office, then definitely talk to your line manager or HR as I don’t think they can refuse it given the current rise in Covid cases. Good luck xx

Hi Tilly8135,

The rules are if you can work from home then you should. I would also speak to your manager about being pregnant as you should ideally be risk assessed to ensure your safety in the workplace.

I hope things work out!

If I were you I would tell them about the pregnancy and would ask to work from home. After all we all are encouraged to work from home and pregnant women are in the vulnerable category, it should be fine!

Hi. Agree with above. Speak with your manager. You should have a risk assessment anyway which will consider such issues. Make sure you have a good ergonomic set up at home especially if WFH. Wishing you well x

Being pregnant puts you in the vulnerable category so you should absolutely be working from home, even if you are double or triple jabbed. I would speak to HR and get it sorted sooner rather than later.

I told my supervisor and a risk assessment was done and they agreed with my request to qork from home. Im not sure whether your having twins or a singleton baby however I am having twins so it is a high risk pregnancy anyway and being consultant led. I'm also not vaccinated at the moment. I didnt have any arguments at all seemed the risk assessment they did said I should work from home anyway. There are women who are still in work however and pregnant with a single baby and they will move to wfh from 28 weeks xx
