The questions in the title really. I’m due to have my frozen egg transfer in the new year but I’m unsure if I should get my booster first? Obviously this new variant is worrying and not much is known about it yet, I just don’t want to risk hindering my chances at my rainbow baby. My anxiety is through the roof. If I could be a hermit until I have my healthy baby, I would.
I guess I’m after opinions really and someone to reassure me that I’m not a complete paranoid, anxious mess lol x

I had my first dose three days before starting stims (I was already downregging). My transfer was successful but I know it’s a hard decision. Had my second at 10.5 weeks and my booster today at 29 weeks. I had to weigh up my treatment, my mental health and the fact that my husband is vulnerable. Best of luck with your treatment whatever you decide to do.
Hey, I’m due to have a FET in January or February and planning to have my booster in the next few weeks. I had my first dose a couple of weeks before a fresh transfer and second dose whilst pregnant about 6 weeks. Unfortunately I did miscarry at 16 weeks but that wasn’t to do with the vaccine xx
I had my first jab between collection rounds and my second shortly before my successful FET. Had zero side effects. I booked my booster as soon as the system allowed (I'll be 21 weeks).
It is something very personal and I guess depends on the heath of each person. My parents just had the boosters, my dad is fine but my mum is with fiber and struggling a bit.
We need to be aware that any vaccine can have side effects.
Think about your personal situation and I am sure you will do the right thing for you
I’ve had my booster and it was the least remarkable of all jabs. I personally would go for it, we still don’t really know what covid does during pregnancy and it’s a while until your transfer. It’s not a live vaccine so side effects are minimal x
I had my booster about 2 weeks ago and having baseline scan tomorrow. I had my both vaccines before the last cycle and I don’t think outcome would have differed. The vaccine isn’t a live vaccine and doesn’t cross the placenta. Personally I didn’t think twice about but that’s partly due to my job and that I’m considered vulnerable. I find the vaccine reassuring to a degree but it’s completely up to you and what you feel it right for you.
Hi 👋 just wondering if its down to the type of vaccine (e.g. it being the covid ones) that do or do not cross the placenta? I'm aware the whooping cough vaccine isn't live, but we're advised to have it so that the baby gets a level of immunity for their first weeks before having their own vaccines.. so it must cross the placenta? The science behind it is all so confusing! X
It's the antibodies that you produce that you pass on to the baby - via placenta, or breastmilk after birth. So they're your antibodies that give the baby the immunity, until they're old enough to start producing their own. Same with whooping cough which I think lasts until they're a couple of months old, then the baby gets its own vaccine because by then it's got a fledgling immune system of its own. The baby doesn't get the virus from your jab and have to start making its own antibodies, you've done all the work for them, don't worry about that.
Because it injected into the muscle not the bloodstream and the mRNA in the vaccine is rapidly broken down, it's extremely unlikely that the mRNA would cross the placenta. I’ve appointment tomorrow and they’ve just phoned to ask if I’ve been vaccinated and to bring proof because they may ask for it having a meeting later to discuss.
Yes of course, I am having mine next week and I go for my first FET in mid January.
I had the second dose one month before getting pregnant with my first fresh cycle in July, I had a miscarriage for other reasons. Pregnant people are in the vulnerable category and now vaccine is recommended, so if you don’t have it now you will be advised to get it during pregnancy x
I’ve got my booster booked mid Jan with FET end of January. Going to try a walk-in to get it sooner if possible. Also need to get Flu jab, been so focussed on booster haven’t booked flu jab yet and I will ill last week! Definitely think it’s worth getting before if you can. X
I had my booster yesterday, I am doing my FET in January too, after my first failed transfer last week. Vaccines are such a personal choice but for me personally I wouldn’t want to risk getting covid and being hospitalised while being early stages pregnant, the booster is the better option and I’m sure some people unfortunately take much worse ‘drugs’ while pregnant and have successful live births so compared to some of those things the booster is really safe x
I had my second dose 2 weeks before my last FET transfer, which was successful. I was going to have my booster but I tested positive for Covid at the weekend, being 21 weeks pregnant. I have been feeling really rough but I am so happy I was double vaccinated. I cannot imagine what it would have been like otherwise! I need to discuss it with the doctor and my midwife but I think I now need to wait a bit to have my booster... It is a very personal decision and I think you need to follow your instincts but I am glad I did what I did. Stay safe and sending you lots of baby dust xx
