*sensitive* pregnancy after miscarriage

Hi,

I have recently found out I am pregnant following a miscarriage 3 years ago and some fertility treatment. My anxiety is pretty high as I have the same symptoms as last time I miscarried. I have registered for NHS counseling through IAPT but there is a long wait. Can anybody recommend a private counsellor for this? Also if anyone has been pregnant after miscarriage and has any tips that would be really appreciated! Hope everyone is getting on ok and thank you in advance for any replies xx

I am so sorry for your loss and the additional stress it is putting on your current pregnancy. Did you have fertility treatment through a clinic? They may offer you a counselling session. My clinic offered one session per IVF round. If you contact your clinic they should be able to assist with a counsellor. Good luck. Thought I’d mention @tryingyears on Instagram - support for those who are finally pregnant after loss. Includes podcasts and support groups. Could be useful for you.

Sending lots of positivity your way xx

Hi Jane,

Thank you so much for your reply. I did have treatment though a clinic previously but we got pregnant naturally. Although that is a good idea to contact them as I might be able to pay privately for their counseling. Will definitely check out the Instagram too thank you! Hope you are doing ok on your own journey xx

They should hopefully be able to point you in the right direction of some accredited counsellors. It can be pricey to find a private counsellor but mental health is definitely worth investing in. I really struggled when I got pregnant with the fear and wish I had gotten regular counselling in hindsight. When I think about how much I was willing to pay for supplements and acupuncture but wouldn’t for counselling it’s really silly. Hope you are able to enjoy this pregnancy! X

Thanks! You definitely weren't silly-I know what you mean though-it's easy to think about supplements etc and think about counselling afterwards. Hope you are doing ok xx

Hi Zozoeee123 congratulations to you on your pregnant and sorry about your previous loss. I was in a similar position. A couple of things helped me. My mum bought me a book called ‘Pregnancy After Loss’ by Zoe Clark Coates which was helpful when I was struggling with anxiety in the early days. I also carried on seeing the counsellor I’d been seeing after my miscarriage. I was v lucky that my employer had arranged for me to have a few sessions last year so I arranged to have some more and pay for them. Can’t lie, the first trimester was hard and milestones like scans have been tough but I’ve been pleasantly surprised at being able to enjoy my pregnancy even whilst being anxious. Also, after the first trimester I started exercising again which was good for my mental health and for chatting to other pregnant ladies. Wishing you all the very best xxx

Hi, Thank you so much for your reply. I have ordered the book thank you! I'm glad to hear that your were able to enjoy your pregnancy in the end. I'm having a bit of a panic today as all of my symptoms seem to have suddenly disappeared. Nothing I can do though but wait but fearing the worst. Hope you are getting on ok. Wishing you all the best on your journey too xx

Oh gosh it’s horrible when your symptoms disappear. I hope all is okay and I’m sure it is. I was prodding my boobs like a mad woman desperately wanting them to be sore but sometimes they weren’t and some days the sickness would suddenly disappear. Such a rollercoaster. I hope the book helps. Xxx
