PGT - How many embryos to biopsy

Hi Ladies

I have been told by the fertility clinic we have 11 embryos from Egg Donation. 6 of them are developing in a good way. 2 regular and 3 in a suboptimal way. Not sure what this means?

We are getting PGT testing done, they think we can expected 3-6 embryos on blastocyst stage tomorrow. Because of the cost of it how many have people got biopsy? What happens to the ones u don't test?

I had 14 embryos and i biopsy 8 of them in which three came back being with right amount of chromosomes. The other 5 was discarded by the label. The six embryos that wasn't tested was send to storage. Wish you luck on your journey

Hi, I would say test all.

First time, I tested four and only one was normal so we had to test the rest. That meant paying the cost to thaw them again pay for the courier again - which would have been included if we did them altogether at first. For me, I’ve had one in four normal and then two in eight.

I had 9 embryos and tested them all. We ended up with 5 normal and 4 had additional or deleted chromosomes.

The lab my clinic used for PGT offered a package price for 8 embryos, but they didn’t have to be sent all at once. For example, if I sent 5 embryos and then did a second egg collection, I could send 3 more and only pay a small processing fee. If I wanted to send more than 3 the second time, I would pay the processing fee plus a fee per embryo for the extras. I would honestly recommend testing all the blasts you get if it’s in your budget.

If you choose not to test all, you might be able to do a fresh transfer with one of the untested ones or simply freeze them for later use.
