Day 6 embryo transfer…

Feel like this is a long shot as I’ve searched for success stories but can’t find many….

We got the awful news this morning (day 5) that none of our embryos have made it, they all stopped developing. The front runner had only split once since day 3 and therefore was unlikely to continue to develop. Our hopes have been dashed. Have spent most of the day crying! This time (round 3) we did long protocol so I started injections back at the start of October and I can’t believe that we went through all this and nothing. Heartbroken.

But then we got a call….embryologist had a check in on the embie before she left work and saw some signs of development, she called and said to take meds just in case! I’m not getting my hopes up but always nice to try and take comfort from any others experiences?

Thanks xx

Day 6 embryos are quite common at my clinic…and my doctor said there is no difference between day 5 and day 6 if they have been tested. My Day 6 embryo worked - so there is hope. I really hope your embryo keeps going tomorrow ❤️

That’s great to hear ☺️☺️ Was this frozen or fresh transfer? Xx

It was frozen xx

But there is hardly any difference between frozen and fresh xx

There is actually a big difference between day 6 frozen and fresh transfers, hence why lots of clinics freeze day 6 embryos as they have a much higher chance of implanting if transferred on a future day 5 cycle.

Thanks for this - my clinic have a different approach. They will only transfer day 6 embryo once you have had six days of progesterone (not five days) x

Hi lovely, I hope this brings you hope!My very first BFP was a 6 day

I called it my lucky egg as it wasn’t in the running to start of with but then started to come into its own later on so they kept it an extra day and froze it on day 6 as they felt it had potential. I love referring to slow and steady wins the race as this is exactly what happened with this lucky egg and he is 5 weeks old now. Please don’t write it off you just never know. I have everything crossed for you xxx

Thank you, I don’t want to give up on hope but feel very disheartened. They seemed so pessimistic on the phone. If it does make it to blastocyst tomorrow I don’t think they would freeze it though. I’ve never managed to get to the stage where we can freeze any xx

We have a 6bb in the freezer. It was slow all along and in the end frozer along with its faster growing sibling embryo. The clinic sait it was a beutiful embryo and did not say anything about it not having a chance when we get to using it. Good luck tomorrow!

My embie was a slow developer and took till the end of day 5 to develop enough to freeze. I wasn’t hopeful but I had my transfer at the end of October and got my BFP last week so there is definitely hope. It’s a little fighter 💪 good luck today xx

I’m so glad you asked this question. I’ve been feeling quite hopeless after 4 fresh transfers but about to go for a Day 6 FET and all these posts are giving me hope. Let’s hope our Day 6s are the best! Xx

Our wee boy was a 6 day blastocyst and seemed like an unlikely candidate. He was a slow developer and out of ours seemed the least likely to get to transfer stage. Our front runner didn’t make it. Anything can happen, there is always hope. I have everything crossed for you, best of luck xxx

If you have a day 6 blastocyst, please ask them to transfer frozen. The best is natural modified FET with stims for lining. Day 5 fresh transfers work but day 6 can affect implantation window.
