Immature eggs

Hi all,

I have a quick question that I’m hoping you can help with. Do you have any experience or have you heard of immature eggs maturing overnight and then being fertilised successfully?

Thank you

Jxx

I have heard of this - but it’s quite rare apparently and not recommended.

I had a problem with immature eggs - I switched from short to long protocol and it made a huge difference. My doctor said cetrotide is terrible for egg maturity….and long protocol is better.

I read that you have low AMH - have you read this book?

amazon.co.uk/Underwear-My-S...

I read it in one night and it was so comforting (and yes, there is a happy ending!)

Hi Hayleh123,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I really do appreciate it.

Yes, the embryologist also said something similar about it rarely being an positive outcome :(

Thanks for the book recommendation too. I’ve bought it in my Kindle.

I hope you’re doing OK and are enjoying your Sunday.

Thanks again xx

Yep happened to me. I was 40, second NHS cycle, 6 eggs collected (I forget how many were mature and immature as it was all a blur). One mature egg was fertilised then an immature egg was fertilised overnight. In all honesty I didn't get much feedback from the clinic and I feel they were just going through the motions just to say I've been treated. Felt like they just thought we'll stick em in and see what happens plus they were only day 2 embryos, in hindsight the clinic was pretty bad.

Hi Ebonyebene, thanks for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it.I’m sorry you went through that and I read from your other posts about your recent experience in Prague. This journey is so tough. It often feels like one disappointment after another. Hopefully we’ll both get a break soon!

I don’t have much hope about the immature egg fertilising/becoming an embryo. It doesn’t sound like the success rates are high so it makes sense to be realistic. I was on Pergoveris this cycle too. I also had to cancel my previous cycle due to poor response which is odd for me as I’ve always responded well despite having a low AMH although I was on Bemfola at a different clinic so I don’t know if it’s the change of stims or me being one year older :(
