Can anyone tell me how it works with donor eggs? Wondering if you have to find the donor yourself?

Thank you! X

If you look at Cinderellas post there's lost of info. I will bump her post xx

We used donor eggs and it was through a private clinic where they do it all for you. When we looked into a donor egg cycle with my nhs clinic they do ask you to find your own donor. I am guessing this may vary in different areas/hospitals etc xx

We chose a clinic that we wanted to have treatment at as we'd used our NHS go's. But had we had an NHS go left they would have found us a donor. They ask for your photos and your blood type, height, weight, eye colour, hair colour etc and ask you if you want anything specific, the clinic have someone that looks through their database to match you to. This is how it worked in my clinic. You can provide your own donor if for example you have a friend or a sister that is helping you. Im not sure where you live but in the UK egg donation is not anonymous but in Europe it is. Hope that helps!xx

You are very lucky! We've never used the NHS and had our first consultation few weeks ago with the NHS. I need a donor egg and we have found one too but NHs is not allowing me to use my 2 treatments as per my CCG for the donor egg procedure. They are saying I can only use these if it's a straight IVF. ☹️. You are very lucky they even found you a donor.

My clinic is private (we're going abroad and paying) but we did ask how donor eggs would work and the NHS were willing to allow us to do it for one of our cycles but we chose to use my own eggs in the end to get closure that they are rubbish. Sorry to hear that its not the same for you, that's so unfair especially when you have found a donor too!xx

Yep, plus we have no children, we are both 37, both pay our taxes, I cannot understand this to be honest, we even suggested to cover the cost of the donors part of the procedure/medication etc etc. anyway....

Long story short, we have gone overseas too and started our meds 2 days ago (donor and me) we are flying in 10 days for our procedure and transfer in 17 days... omg I cannot register this all... xx

It really is so unfair! We fly out on the 26th of this month so not too long behind you! Nerve racking but exciting isnt it?! Best of luck for your cycle, I really hope it works out for you!xx

I am POF since birth, me and my OH are desperate for children, cannot explain, however, I've found a donor and currently on the meds and are traveling in 10 days to have our transfer done. I need a lot of luck as this is our first ever try. 😢

It all depends on how you wish to proceed, some private clinics arrange the donor for you and do all the paperwork etc or you can find a donor yourself (there are 100's of forums)... I joined a few and within 2 months I found a donor.

It also depends on wether you are having your treatment in the U.K. Or overseas. Overseas clinics I feel are a little proactive and have egg banks in most clinics and match you a donor deom the time you've had a consultation to the next meeting.

Good luck and let us know how it goes and if you need any help.

Thank you. Guess I need to find out if our clinic does it!

Yep, that would be the best thing to do, plus if going private is an option I'd say you research that along the side too.

We will be going private as lucky enough to have had a successful ivf cycle last year.
