Eggs! Eggs! Eggs!

Hi all, we've just found out our second ivf cycle has been unsuccessful, unfortunately despite being given high doses of stims I haven't reponded very well - only producing a couple of eggs each time all off which have been low grade embryos and it has been suggested that we consider egg donation. Any ladies out there that have had any experience of egg donation I'd love to hear about your stories. We remain hopeful that one day we will have the opportunity to become parents and are planning to persue egg donation I just wish we could meet them it all feels so impersonal being anonymous.

Loads of us are on the de journey here. And in fact, although they tell you a lot that you don't have any DNA connection there are now studies showing that there is a thing called epigenetics which we do in fact pass on:

People tend to go abroad as there are huge waiting lists in the UK due to the law being slightly different to the rest of Europe. This means that the donor is not allowed more than £750 in expenses and that the child has to know who the donor mother is by 18th birthday. This puts off many donors.

In other countries there is anonymity and the donors tend to get a little more money.

Wherever in the EU that you are there are very strict regulations and screening that the clinics have to go through. Even outwith the UK the clinics will share age and blood type of donor and they try to match height, eye colour and hair colour to the recipient parents.

There are comparison sites you can visit to enable you to compare and choose a clinic which is best for you.

Check out these two links:

Good luck and ask any questions. There's loads of support here. Xxx

I’m currently 10.5 weeks pregnant with a donor egg, we went to a clinic in Spain.

If you check his website

eggdonationfriends.com/

It will help you compare clinics, prices, visit times etc.

Also worth looking into other factors, it’s not just eggs that can inhibit you falling pregnant. We learnt a lot on our journey about blood conditions and I ended up taking steroids to quieten my immune system (stop killer cells). So a combination of factors along with good quality healthy eggs did the trick for us.

Good luck on your journey.

Happy to answer any questions if you have any

Xx
