I just received the results of my endometrial biopsy to measure my NK cell, and they have come back as low. What does it mean and how is it treated?
I will have a consultation next week, but I am too surprised by the results -- I was expecting them to be high!
Dr Google told me the low is better than high, and doctors either ignore the results, or suggest endometrial scratch, hCG injections, or Neupogen/GCSF.
Has anyone else been diagnosed with low NK cells?
Thanks, everyone!

I don't know, I just received an email saying "low-activated". I will speak with the consultant on Thursday. Have you already discussed the results with your consultant?
I haven't spoken with the doctor yet, the appointment is on Thursday.
I tested only the endometrial NKC (which are those the come back as "low-activated"), but not the blood or the KIR receptors (didn't even know about the latter...)
I believe Neupogen was for low-activated or thin endometrium, do you have more information regarding this?
I would ask your doctor about testing your blood as well as the lining as in my case they say different things.
I think Neupogen can be used for poor lining but I’ve never had issues with my lining - this is what I’m having it for: G-CSF (Neupogen) was originally used to increase the production of the white blood cells in the bone marrow. It was found to improve embryo implantation and reduce the risk of miscarriage in patients, particularly those missing some of the killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIR).
The doctor proposed to test also the blood, but, unfortunately, I could not afford it, so I will have to use only the information from the endometrium. Thanks for the info on Neupogen! xxx
Maybe do the KIR receptor test? I don’t think that one was that expensive and I’m really hoping that will be a game changer for me…. Best of luck to you x
We discussed it with the doctor and decided to use hCG injections (before transfer), endometrial scratch (booked for Monday), and Neupogen wash 5 days before transfer but not sex at all (protected and unprotected) between the PG initiation and a positive pregnancy test.
The doctor said that Neupogen helps in general with receptibility, and if I have issue with the KIR receptor will take care of that as well. I am also pushing for a transfer mid-December, so no really much time (or money :D) for another test!
Sounds great! How about Neupogen Injections as well? Will you do any intralipid or steroids? I’m hoping for a mid December transfer too … fingers crossed for our Christmas miracles! Xxxxx
We did not discuss the injections. I got a bit overwhelmed and I forgot to mention these. He did not mention them either, so I think he did not find them so "important" in my case -- he has mentioned so many medications and add-ons during the treatment that I know for sure he is not restraining himself
We are working under the assumption that my NK cells are low so the doctor did not suggest any treatment for possibly high NKC, such as intralipid or steroids? That's my guess....
Finger crossed for us both! A positive pregnancy test will be a terrific Christmas present!!!
