I’m booked in to have my left fallopian tube removed next week due to haematosalpinx. I had my right tube removed last year after a 2nd ectopic pregnancy following my 4th round of IVF.
I have stage 4 endometriosis but am asymptomatic so the surgeon is planning to leave that alone. My tube is attached to my bowel so it’s not going to be straightforward.
I’m hoping there may be some people on here who may have had similar surgery or surgery where endometriosis has involved the bowel. I’d love to hear your experiences in the hope it may help alleviate some of my anxieties!
Thanks for reading! ☺️

Hi 👋🏻 I’ve had both tubes removed due to ectopics. My left was removed years ago bit I had my right removed in September. You’ll be absolutely fine with the surgery. You’re just having a really good sleep. It’s not too painful after and you will be able to tentatively walk around (not far) the next day. Regular paracetamol is all you’ll need. Keep changing your dressings regularly. One of my wounds got infected which was annoying and had to go on antibiotics, but that was nothing to do with the surgery. Just use the time to rest as much as you can. You’ll be back on your feet in no time xx
Hi my lovely. I've had both tubes removed following 3 ectopics, both which were done by laparoscopy but I also had a laparotomy done with one of them due to it been more complicated and rupturing. I was given lots of pain relief and a button that I could press for morphine whenever it got bad which was like a magic button haha! I went home after the laparotomy after 5 days. For the one done by laparoscopy I went home the next day and apart from the discomfort from the trapped wind which passed after a few days, I didn't have too much pain at all.
I'm not sure if they're doing yours by keyhole or not, but if you do need the bigger op, they'll make sure you have all the pain relief you need.
Wishing you lots of luck for next week hun and hoping it all goes smoothly ❤️XX
Thank you so much for reply and I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had 3 ectopic pregnancies 😔
The surgeon said that he thinks he can do it through laparoscopy and will just be an overnight stay. My right side was removed via laparoscopy after my 2nd ectopic last year and all went ok but my left tube is a bit more difficult to access which is what’s making me anxious.
Would you mind me asking what you have been told about further ectopic pregnancies now you have both tubes removed? I’ve heard that it doesn’t reduce the chances of getting another one.
Hi 👋 I’ve had my left tube removed a good 6 years ago due to cysts. You’ll be fine with surgery just like a long uninterrupted sleep. It’s not very painful afterwards, maybe couple of days. You will be able to move day after but not go too far. I was able to drive after a week. Regular pain killers fine. Bear in mind to change dressings regularly as wound could get infected. Feet up and rest as much as you can however you’ll be back on your feet in no time. Good box set will help while resting. Good luck and take care x
I also had my left tube removed due to Hydrosalpinx - it was very straight-forward surgery. I got two weeks off work, but only needed a few days! I didn’t feel any pain. It was all done through my belly-button, so no scarring either.
I was so relieved when it was out and I could start IVF properly without dramatically reducing my chances because of the hydrosalpinx.
