Dear All.
I have spoken today with my IVF doctor and he said that medications for stimulation will cost cheaper from Asda. From my understanding , is it maximum 1400£ for the medication they can charge? But no more than that? Xx
Dear All.

It's SO much cheaper from Asda!! I've saved about £2500 on meds for two rounds of IVF (short cycle. ) They don't make any profit on IVF meds and I don't think they charge VAT either...
You take them your prescription and they quote you for everything and then order it in. They were really helpful. Xx
Mine were much cheaper! We saved £800 on our last round, they sell the drugs at non profit x
I also got mine from Asda who were the cheapest by far and I was very thorough in my research. I don't think that there is a set ceiling as such because it depends on what and how much you need.
Hi, yes Asda is so much cheaper. I saved so much money getting the meds from there. E.g. the bemfola injection alone was £25 each cheaper than anywhere else!
May I please know which clinic did you use? I assume it is not nhs funded cycle but private?
Hi all, is that correct that they can only charge 1400? I spent over 2000 on meds on my first round! How do you get the prescription to use Asda please?
I get a private prescription from my clinic which costs £25 and then order my meds from Asda. I’m with a private clinic, nothing is NHS funded.
Hi madeline_1986.
By far asda is the best place to go. They have a commitment to sell at cost price. They make no benefit from it whatsoever. Like others have said I saved so much by going to Asda.
If you are having private treatment just ask your consultant for a prescription as you want to source your own medicine. They can't say no, as its ultimately your choice. (Some clinics charge around £25 for the prescription). Asda need the hard copy prescription dispense the medicine.
Asda ( larger stores) usually have stock in, or order for the next day. They are brilliant and really helpful. So you can even call up and get quotes or find out if they have stock if case you need it ASAP.
If you are with the NHS I'm not sure but I would query with asda themselves, as I'm sure it might work just like a normal prescription?
Hope this helps x
Wow, you have a good, honest consultant there 😆 I wish I'd used Asda. My clinic do a pack with a standard 850 price. The last couple I ended up starting cycles pretty quickly and was afraid to shop round, so just went with it 🙄 The last round I really noticed the mark-up when I needed to say on stims longer than expected. I only learned that on the day, and had no meds for that night (as they'd given me the package of drugs based on say 11 days of stimming. So essentially had to buy those extra stims meds from the clinic then and there and my goodness... so.much.money! An extra 4 days worth cost me about 460 quid 😱 xx
I'm definitely looking into this for my next round. At the moment my last ones cost £2800.
😱 That's scandalous!! For one cycle?
I have just finished my medication for round 3 and found asda so much cheaper.
My clinic’s supplier was £2400 this time for meds, it went up about £400 from my previous cycle just due to the new tax year!!
Asda was only quoting me £1600, and although my clinic charged me £250 for the prescription to take to Asda (🙄🙈), I still saved me £550.
But no as far as I am aware there is no cap for Asda, as I paid £1600.
