Hi everyone, I honestly find this community so so helpful so am wondering if you can help with my latest dilemma..
We will be going into cycle two shortly, I’m 38 in 3 weeks, our first cycle resulted in two chemical pregnancies and one failed transfer. We have one frozen blastocyst left. We want to do another egg collection now before I get even older!
The clinic has recommended a thrombophylia screen, karyotype test and a lower dose of Menopur. Last time we were on the highest dose of 450 Units. The clinic we spoke to today wants to lower the dose of Menopur to 300 Units.
I had a fairly good result of 10 mature eggs last time and 4 blastocysts.
Have any of you had repeat chemicals and had any other tests done?
Thank you for reading this and for your advice 🙏🏼 xxx

Heya. I have no experience to offer with the tests I’m afraid. But from a menopur perspective, maybe they’re worried that you got quantity over quality - that with a lower dose you might get lower numbers, but better embryos?
I was on 300 in my recent cycle - got 16 eggs, but borderline OHSS and only 3 made it to blastocyst…. So maybe they want to try and see what happens….
Thank you lovely ❤️ My gut feeling is telling me that 300 Units will be enough, I felt pretty awful last time on 450 Units and my BMI is on the lower side..
In the UK I always had 375 but I moved to the Netherlands where the maximum is 300. Clinics will rarely go over this amount as they say anything above is absolutely useless. I did the last cycle in the UK when I nearly turned 38 and got 5 eggs with 5 blastocysts (2 failed transfers and 3 still in the freezer). I did the cycle in the Netherlands when I nearly turned 39 and got 12 eggs with 5 blastocysts (BFP with 4 in the freezer). So for me it really didn't make a difference and the lower dose was absolutely fine. Good luck! X
That’s so interesting, thank you! Yes I just don’t feel that it’s right having such a high dose, I responded well to 450 but hopefully it’ll be as good with 300. Congratulations on your pregnancy 😍 I love a success story it really gives me hope, wishing you all the best ✨🍀 xxx
Hi I’ve been recommended Menopur (used ovaleap before) for my next cycle, consultant said there is no evidence for over 300 units. So to try 375units, for ovaleap I was on 450 units. Worth a go 🤞🏼
